Who We Are
Second Chance Dobes Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Clinton, Michigan. Our mission is to foster, rehabilitate and help find Doberman Pinschers new homes, giving them a second chance on life. We provide any medical assistance needed to every dog that comes into our program along with spaying and neutering.

History of Second Chance Dobes
Founder Arda Barber has been rescuing Dobermans Pinchers since 1981. Her mission to help the breed began with a visit to a Humane Society to pick up a boxer for a friend. Also at the shelter were four beautiful Dobermans slated that day for euthanasia if homes were not found for them. Without thinking twice, Arda loaded the four Dobes and Boxer into her van and brought them home to safety.

Since that day, Arda has rescued over 3,000 Dobes and over 1,000 dogs of other breeds.

Our Mission
Second Chance Dobes is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of Doberman Pinschers. We are soley run by volunteers who have the time, patience, and the love of Dobes needed to make this effort possible.

Can't adopt but would still like to help?

Brandi
Every day thousands of adoptible pets are killed at local animal controls because of the simple fact that they're homeless. It is Second Chance Dobes' mission to rescue and rehabilitate the Dobermans that others have failed, the unwanted, the unloved and the abandoned. We provide complete medical care, including spay/neuter, heart worm testing, vaccinations and parasite removal for every dog that comes into the rescue. We do our best to evaluate the temperament of each dog in order to make the best possible placement for that dog. We provide life long support for our adopters following adoption. We try to educate the public about the Doberman Breed and the importance of spay/neutering.

Rescuing is very expensive--every dog in our program will cost an average of $100.00 - $400.00, depending on his or her medical needs and length of stay. Every donation made to the rescue to aid one of its residents helps, and no amount is too small. If you are unable to adopt but would like to help, this is a great way to make a difference in the life of a homeless Dobe.

Whether you are able to adopt or sponsor, your generosity will save the life of an animal in need.
