Brooke & Kurt came out to meet Ember this weekend. They have owned several Dobes over the years, and were ready to bring another companion into their life. Ember is a sweet young girl, and just a little thing too. She has come a long way, and is much more accepting of strangers with some work from Arda. We know with their Dobe experience, Brooke & Kurt will be able to help her become the best dog possible. Congratulations on your newest family member! We hope you have years of joy together. Thank you for choosing rescue! :flower:

It looks like she's going to live a well-deserved life of comfort in her hew home.  I see "Best Dog in the World" potential in that beautiful face!  Congratulations to Brooke and Kurt and Ember!

Ember turned out to be such a sweet little girl.  She was always happy and just wanted to give kisses and get lovin'.  She was very spoiled, sleeping in bed with us and on the couch with lots of blankets.  She got a sister in July 2016.  Shoena was another rescued Doberman.  They became good friends.

Unfortunately, my husband Kurt passed in 2019 leaving me with Ember & Shoena to be my companions and guardians.  We got along well for several years.

In 2024 Ember got sick with a stomach motility issue.  On her 11th birthday her condition worsened.  Our wonderful Vet and I did everything we could for Emmy, but on October 4, 2024 I had to do what was best for my sweet girl.  Shoena & I miss her terribly, but I know she crossed the rainbow bridge being met by all of her past "sisters" and her Dad.

Thanks to Second Chance Dobes for allowing us to care for Ember for the remainder of her life.  She was a joy!!

I started my AMAZING journey here back in 2006--- lost my beloved Lexa after 13 years... Found my way here. The community of healing from my early days in this forum and then to go to the swamp to volunteer had a beautiful huge impact on my life thereafter. Arda-- so many people.. and the dogs-- oh the dogs... I adopted my perfect Loki from Arda around 2007-- .. I was telling a friend just today of the incredible journey.. I know Arda is retired, many people gone- not sure if this web page/ forum is even active.. I signed on today--- saw your recent 2025 post of your lovely story. Embers passing.

I've lost 3 of them, with each loss a huge piece of your heart leaves with them. I'm sorry for that pain, so many of us know it. As you wrote Ember enjoyed her life with her beloved owners-- that's the balance. Had not planned on posting here, just visiting the site for memories, then saw your beautiful post of Embers story..

If anyone remembers me and my sweet Loki-- my time affiliated out here please feel free to say hello..at:: bfaux@protonmail.com I first went by brokenhearted, changed to Dobbiehearted, then Dobbiehearted2 to sign in...

Brooke, this discussion forum is not very often visited these days, but I still check in every once in a while.  It's been longer than I thought, I guess, because today is the first time I'm seeing your latest post.  I'm so sorry for the sadness you have been through, losing your husband several years ago, and then losing Ember last year.  Loss is so difficult, and the older we get, the more there is, it seems.  I hope your heart is healing and that you and Shoena are doing okay.  :Rose:  :Rose:  :Rose:

Dobbiehearted2, of course I remember you!  Right from the beginning, as you said, coming here after you lost Lexa, and in the years after that.  I hope you are doing well and maybe even have another dog to share your life.  :icon12:
