While I was playing around with Max this afternoon I noticed that the lymph nodes right behind his jaw were swollen. Both of them about the size of a walnut, maybe a little smaller. I checked Hailey to make sure I never noticed it before and I found nothing enlarged on her. Not sure what to make of it. He has been eating, playing, etc. like normal. I can't get him to the vet until at least Wednesday. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Benadryl. It won't hurt and it could be nature playing with his system. Pollen, bees, wasps, mold, etc. 1 every 8 hours. And watch him to see if it gets better. It's spring.

I don't want to scare you, but it would be a good idea to take him to the vet. My dog heidi had swollen lymph nodes and it ended up being lymphatic cancer. But then again it may be nothing.

If it's simple, the benedryl will take it down in a day. If not, of course, see the vet.

I made an appt with the vet for Wed morning after I get off of work. I would rather err on the side of caution, but I started with the benadryl this morning to see if it helps.

I up Max's Benadryl dose. He is such a bull moose that 25 mg wasn't doing anything for him. When I got up this afternoon (worked last night), the left side is smaller. YAY!! I will see how he is in the morning, but I will likely still take him in, just to make sure it isn't an infection or anything else.

The vet is thinking it is something reactive to the lymph nodes, possibly an infection. His eyes are a little runny, so is his nose. The lymph nodes are symmetrical and not lobular (which would be bad) and he doesn't have any other swollen nodes. She gave me a course of antibiotics and I will keep using the benadryl. I will keep everyone updated.

Well, his lymph nodes did go down, but they are now swollen again. The only difference is they don't feel symmetrical. The right one feels like there are two nodes that are swollen. I started him back on the benadryl on Sunday. I have a vet appt for him in the morning when I get off of work and the kids to school. I am  that it is nothing. It is his 3rd bday tomorrow and really don't want bad news. I will keep you all informed.
