Our hearts are heavy tonight. We had to lay Dude to rest this morning. We've known for quite awhile that his hips were pretty bad. He has been on Medicam for the last 2 weeks. This morning he was in quite a lot of pain. At the Vet's office it was determined the best thing we could do for him, was to let him go. Sleep softly sweet Dude.

Oh I am so so sorry, my heart goes out to you. Prayers
are sent your way. Sorry doesn't seem like enough to
say there are no words that can ease the pain. :doberman:
We have to let them go when they are in pain, we can't
be selfish, it is just so hard. We know when we get
them that day will come but we are never ever
prepared. I'm sorry.

Sincere prayers and thoughts are sent to you
both. Bless you. :sorcerer:

You have a special place Dear Lord
that I know you'll always keep
a special place reserved for dogs
when they quietly fall asleep

Lori & John,

I am so very sorry to hear the news about your Dude. My tears are flowing for you, Dude, and my DoberAngels. I pray you will find solace in the knowledge he is no longer in pain. He'll be waiting at the Bridge with a big ole dober smile for you.

Hugs to you and the rest of your doberkids.

I am so sorry to read this. I remember when you adopted Dude & thought it was so funny how he picked his own name. You're in my prayers for peace of mind, knowing that you did the right thing no matter how hard it was.

Oh my. I'm so sorry. So very sorry. You two gave him the only life he ever had. He excelled in your hands from the dog that would not except other dogs to the dog that would run in the pack at SCD. Who lived in a home with three other siblings. Happily jumping in the mini van for the trip to the Swamp. He was a trophy to what love can do. Love and trust. What a boy. We will all miss his visits here. Run free, my Capone.

Oh John & Lori I'm crying just knowing how you must hurt right now. I'm so, so sorry for your loss. :doberman: I remember the first time we came to the Swamp, and Dude greeted us in the yard. He was such a big sweetheart. Joaquin said he would like to adopt him. He had the greatest life, and he will be missed so much. He was the best of the best. Run free Dude...

To say that I am sorry for your loss seems so inadequate..... I have just read through Dude's "New Beginning" thread. I hadn't joined the forum yet when you adopted him, so I was seeing it for the first time. Your posts and photos tell me that Dude was one very lucky guy to have been adopted by you. The last five years of his life were so filled to the brim with love, adventure and contentment. I hope it is some comfort to you to know that you gave him such a wonderful life. My heart goes out to your family.

Oh Bumpster and Bumpette....I am so sorry....I can't believe I am reading this right. I'm sure you're just devastated but I'm glad you have a house full of other greatful, lucky dobes to cherish. You were the best thing to ever happen to Dude :doberman:

I am also very shocked and sorry to read this. Nothing to say other than one of the best passed on to a slightly better heaven than where he was at.

Lori and John,

Words cannot express the void left behind, when we have to make that fateful decision to ease the suffering of our devoted companion. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. Dude was such a character, and blossomed in your hands. He had a wonderful life with you; the best years of his life. I'm so sorry. Run free, sweet Dude.
