We finally decided on a name for Uno ... His name at home will be "Tux" and his PEN (Canadian version of the ILP#) name will be "Second Chance's Black Tie Affair".

It's been a very busy week but we've all settled in nicely. I took Tux to class last night for the first time. I was a little worried - Tux has been a little wierd around men - and my trainer is a solid 6'2". I greeted him and then Tux let him walk right up and say hello! I was thrilled!! (This guy makes my sassy lab-x fall over ... so I wasn't sure how greetings would go...)

He did SO well!! Once he figured out what I wanted him to do - he was sitting perfectly square beside me every time. He didn't bark at anyone and he wasn't at all upset. (He has been a little nervy.)

Both my trainer and the owner of the facility were really impressed!

Whooohoooo!!!

Wow! This is really terrific, Stef! You must be feeling great about this. So happy to hear that he reacts so well to others and is so obedient this soon! ;)

Peanut, you barked at your Dad??

It's me, Peanut, don't you recognize me?

What in the world are you doing coming in the back door?  I don't know if I have ever seen you come in the back door.  I am usually with you.  How did you get to the store without me?  How did you get out of the house unnoticed?  What is going on here?????  Are we off our schedule?????    AAAAAAAAAaaaeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!??????

*oof*

I protest.

  Whadja bring me?

Look I found a 19 squeaker toy for 75% off!

Peanut's Ponderings:  *squeak*  is music to my ears, nineteen "squeaks" will be music to theirs.

Eric,

We're in the beginner obedience class for the next 7 weeks. My lab-x is in the advanced class and will moved up to competitive so that Tux can move to advanced in the next session. (Obedience is kinda my thing...) Wes will be showing Rally Obedience (and probably Tux too) and Tux will show CKC obedience. I'm looking into Agility - but I want the groundwork firm before we start that.

It means two nights of school - but I really enjoy it! :)

Stef,
Thats a wonderful name for "Tux", Good Luck in obedience, let us
know when you start trialing him. We come to quite a few shows in
canada. ;) Maybe we can get to see him.. I know Arda will be proud ;)
Know its alot of work, but great fun too... Sounds like soon he can
go for his Canine Good Neighbor certificate..

Thanks all!!

The facility is running the CGN tests in 8 weeks!! I'm going to try with both Wes & Tux.

(I have therapy aspirations in the future...) ;)

Hey Stef..
Just a quick question...
Where exactly are you located at? I've been thinking about putting Brody in some classes....God KNOWS he could use the socialization.. ;)
Just thought I'd ask...think I'm going to be calling around tomorrow to see what the cost range is over here. I'm in Windsor, do you know of anywhere? I'd appreciate the info.

Jenny,

I'm in Chatham. I have, however, been e-mailing a guy about agility/flyball in Windsor. His name is Art and he's with Club SODA. His e-mail is: art@dogsports.ca and he seems really nice. (I haven't met him - so all I can offer is a contact point.)

He has a contact that does obedience as well as agility intros. He should be able to help.

Good luck!
Stef
