She still sleeps with her no-bite and e-collars on. but the rest of the time when I'm there she does real good. It looks real good.

She also went to the doc about her hair loss. and the doctor did a senior blood work on her. I just got the results back and everything is good. her liver, kidneys, heart and lungs were all good. the doctor checked for cushings disease and thyroid disease and no problem. the only thing they found was that she has a small amount of crystals in her urine. the doc said it was nothing to worry about and I have to have her checked every two months to make sure they are still the same. The crystals could grow into stones so that's why they have to watch.

Boy oh boy! I'm so happy that it's finally healed up, Ella. I've never seen such problems with a wound healing. It reminds me of what they talk about for diabetics. I was ready to recommend a wound treatment center for humans!

We are cheering over here! I'm the one on top.

 Oh my...I just read thru all 12 pages of the "Saga of Princess" and her poor leg. Ella, you are one loving, patient human to have gotten through all that medical trauma. Thank God that for every rotten, unkind human in this world there are many more kind and loving ones. I'm proud to be associated with all of you and delighted that so many of these scared and mistreated animals find happy lives because of SCD. After the holidays I'd like to do some volunteering to help with the cause. No matter what happens from this point medically for Princess, you should feel so happy to have healed her broken heart and given her the best care possible. And thank you for all your kind words about Derek... he's a lover, too. :) Diane

Guess who slept without her no-bite and e-collar on last night. first time since last summer when I started having her ware it. She hasn't bite her leg for over a month. So I tried her and she was perfect. didn't bite at all. I still put it on when I'm at work but I think I'll stop this week. I hope it's over.

It's not over. Over a month without biteing. Two nights without her no-bite and E collar and she bite it last night.
She will have the no-bite and e-collar on 24 hours a day for the rest of her life...That's all there is to say.

Ella, I don't know if this is of any help, but YEARS ago when I worked for the vets we used BITTERS to help deter the dogs from licking and chewing. We actually SOLD it in a spray or pour bottle whichever was preferred, don't even know what or if anything is available any longer. You MIGHT ask your vet, and/or go to a more holistic pet site of reputable character and really research those types of alternitives. Though they do not always work, we sure had great success with them and the Elizabethian collars were slowly discarded for things like that...best wishes to you.
"let them (man) rule over all the earth, the fish, birds, livetock, all that move on the ground. Gen 1:26" Seems some misunderstood the word "rule" and exchanged it for "cruel", and now I give thanks to God for the "rescue angels".

Ella,
Dude had a lick sore when we got him. If he wore a bandage on it he left it alone, if we took the bandage off it he would lick it. He had 2 weeks of an antibiotic and a cream we got from the vet for it. We thought he was done licking it after about a month, because it looked really good. But we were wrong, as soon as the bandage was taken off and we left him alone he licked it bloody. So we put the bandage back on until it was all healed up and the hair had grown back and it looked like a normal leg. He wore the bandage for about 3 months in total. You might have to use the e-collar and no-bite until it is totally healed and the hair has all grown back in. I know how frustrating it can be and I wish you luck!!

I've tried all the bitters and other nasty things. I've tried bandages and she bites them off. she had hair growing on the leg and she still bite it. She will keep the e-collar and no-bite collar on for the rest of her life. and that's all there is to it. HaHa.

Princess is treating her foot like Tiki treats her stuffed animals. No breaking her of it either. Just a nervous habit, I think. Sorry, Ella. :)
