The Walker family came out today to meet the kids. This is their first Dobe, but they have had big dogs before and after losing their Boxer, Cleo, they wanted to add another dog to the house. Kolu is such a good girl. She and her sister Rajah were given up because their owner died and her husband was unable to care for the girls as he traveled for work. Kolu has always been a beloved pet and she LOVES people and attention. We hope she will fill the Walkers' home with love and laughter for years to come. Congratulations and thank you for opening your home to a rescue Dobe! :flower:

Kolu is a wonderful little girl! And we are happy to have her. So far she looks to fit right in. She is a little scared and cries a bit, but her world has been turned upside down recently. She has been introduced to the resident cat and while she is interested, she is not obsessed so I think we are safe there. She does have an odd dislike to be on vinyl flooring but getting past it pretty quick. Here is a photo of her adjusting to life here.

Thankyou so much for the update. Kolu is such a sweet girl, I already miss her. It was hard to see her go, BUT I am also very HAPPY to see that she will have a family that will give her the love she needs and deserves. I know her ole mom is smiling down from heaven. Give her a little bit of time to adjust to her new surroundings. It took her a little bit of time to adjust when she came to Arda's also. I hope all of you have many happy healthy years together. And remember we LOVE pictures!!

Well the trip to Pet Smart was fun, she was shaking it was sort of funny, this big dog and people were leary of her and she's more afraid then they were. She picked out 1 squeeker ball and a chuck-it, a fluffy with rope and a tug-o-war rope, fun day. We start obedience class tonight with her so she will respond to Brian better, and her nails getting clipped. All is going well, she is still un-sure of Nollie our cat but hasn't ate her yet, I think she feels it's a moving stuffy toy...LOL will update more all in all it's a great dog and we have enjoyed her thus far and love our decision as she does too.

Thanks for the update on Kolu. I couldn't imagine someone being leary of such a sweet dog like Kolu, she is the biggest sweet heart, she doesn't have a mean bone in her body. How did obedience class go last night? I am sure in time she will be very responsive to Brian and what is expected of her. Good luck and please keep us posted on how Kolu is doing.

Well she did great on her first day but it was just "sit" which she has down pretty good, she even found time for a nap in class. she's over the vinyl floor thing, but basement stairs are a no way! she is a bit of a bed hog and great with kids which was a must with her, we put her to the test with kid today and she loved them! she acts happy, now its time to put a little weight on her as you can see some spine on her. we tried to get her nails trimed but she wanted no part of that.

well we had Kolu to the vet today to get her nails trimed, they had to sedate her for them to be done, so we have some work to do with her to let us do it. Today she turned 5 and weighed in at 69.5 lb. Happy Birthday Kolu!

Happy Birthday, Kolu, enjoy your new home and family. Glad class went well, the nail grooming will get better in time, all "girls" hate getting a manicure , my Nixx keeps telling me that girls are suppose to have long nails.....wrong.... DoberGirls have short nails. Thanks for the update.

Happy Belated Birthday Kolu! :sorcerer:

One thing you might try with the nail trimming, is to start slow to desensitize her to it. Do just one toe, then praise her and quit. Later that day do a second nail, praise and quit. Once she is comfortable with just one toe, add a second toe, then praise and stop. Eventually do all the nails on one paw, praise and stop. You may end up taking her into the Vet to get them done a few times in between doing them yourself, so they don't get too long. Being as she just got them done yesterday, you might want to start the desensitizing now by just pretending to trim one nail. John & I use a dremel grinder to do our dog's nails, they don't mind it as much as the guillotine nail trimmer.
Happiness is a decision.
