Shooting of pit bulls fuels debate over city police methods

WILKES-BARRE — After police shot two more pit bulls in the city, it reignited a debate about whether officers should use other measures before their weapons.
Police Chief Gerard Dessoye said officers were forced to shoot two pit bulls on East Northampton Street last Sunday night because the dogs mauled another dog and posed a danger to neighbors and officers. The pit bulls ran loose and attacked an English bulldog while two people attempted to break up the fight with brooms, he said. Continue reading here.
