Isabel belongs to Matt. Matt is in the National Guard and is being deployed next week. He needed someone to care for Isabel until he gets back. We met with him and Isabel in November to see how her and Dude got along. Dude thought she would make a good playmate. We picked her up last night. She is doing really well, considering her circumstances. He brought her crate and she thinks of it as her 'home away from home'. Dude tried to play with her some this morning, but she is still kind of timid while getting used to her new surroundings. She is really smart and affectionate. We've set her crate up in our bedroom, she slept there all night without making much of a peep. Right now she is in her crate, by choice, the door is open and she went in there and is curled up snoozing. She is 4 years old and is small and delicate compared to Dude (but then a lot of Dobes seem that way to us because we are used to Dude's size). I've been trying to get some pictures to post of her, but this is the best I could do so far. She is quick, and the camera doesn't keep up with her!! We'll post more pictures later. But I wanted to let everyone know how we are starting the New Year!

This is very kind of you to care for her while Matt is gone. She looks like a doll. Can't wait to see more pics. I bet Dude will fall in love with her. :) If she isn't already spoiled, she will be now. :(

It is really great of you to open your home to Isabel while Matt is deployed. It must be a real comfort for Matt to know she will be loved and safe while he serves. I'm sure she will fall in love with Dude, as he is such a sweet, handsome fellow!

It matters to the one you save.

That is great of you to care for Isabelle while Matt is away on Duty. And how great is it that Matt planned ahead and had a plan set up for Isabelle. He obviously is a very wonderful dober-daddy.

I think this is newsworthy! What an awesome gesture on your part and Dude looks very happy!

This really made my day and I didn't think it could get any better!!

What a dolly and what a huge relief it must be for Matt to know that she will be so well taken care of by people who know the breed and who also have a companion for her. I can't believe how well the DUDE is doing with her.

You two make me happy! I'm proud to know you.

I salute you!

This has worked out so wonderfully :) I think the Dude may even lose some weight with all the calories he's burning keeping up with his new girl. Not that he's fat or anything....but I know he likes to eat! Those soft natural ears make me want another floppy :( .
We give dogs the time we can spare, the space we can spare, and the love we can spare. And, in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.

Actually, right now, Dude is good for about 5 minutes of playtime! He is doing really well though. I think he has finally come to the conclusion that he has a permanent home now. After spending the first 5 years of his life shifting from one home to another, with stays in shelters in between homes; he wasn't sure how long we were going to keep him. He still has his 'grumpy old man' moments, but all in all he is handling it pretty good! It really helps that Isabel comes from a very loving home. She has done well with the transition. I think it is a big plus that she has a her own crate and thinks of it as her home away from home. She likes to spend her 'down time' in it. Once she has had enough entertainment, she wanders down to the bedroom and curls up in her crate.

Isabel is a doll. They make a cute couple. :(
It IS an exceptional thing you're doing.
We've had several cat pairs brought to the Shelter
because their owner has been deployed, and no family member would take them.
Kudos to you.
