I just came from the dog house. This Bruno is so darn happy to see me it makes me sick. That this is the best place he ever had and that he is happy to be with me makes me cry. This is a dump and it's only the best I can do for them. It's not what I want for them just the best I have to offer them. He wiggles all over when he sees me coming. I could just cry. And Old Blue is the same way. Now Gretta is going to take some time. Kari worked her today and we can see there is a good dog under the fear. I sure hope Kari isn't sick tomorrow cuz I think I sure am. Out with the Cephalexan. Sorry dogs, mom's sick. Good night all.

Arda,
First and foremost, your place is not a dump!!! It is a little piece of heaven for many furkids!!!(not including us humans who need a release from this cruel world)

Without you where would these furkids be???.... tied to a tree,no shelter, wondering where thier next meal will come from?, wandering the streets waiting to be hit by car? Beaten by the hand that feeds them? Starving for any affection? No food, no water, no love???

Help is coming! even if it means restructuring certain things!

Arda,
The day Kori and I came out to see if Dakota was there (Girl) is implanted in my memories. There were two other couples their before us that you were helping. One surrender and one adoption. When you got to us and took us to her and began talking you realized I was from South Dakota. You told me that " If it doesn't work out she has to come back to me." I told you she's not coming back, and thats my final answer. I didn't know we were supposed to be renting them I must have gotten the unlimited rental plan. Myles must be on that same rental plan becasue he has mended my husbands broken heart over Sam. You know I happened to watch that story Fluke on Animal Planet last night. My husband caught the tail end of it and asked me what was going on. He made the comment well thats what Sam must have done with Myles. Sam knew mom wanted a red dobie and dad needed a crazy puppy and Myles is both.

Oh just one more thing YOUR PLACE IS HEAVEN ON EARTH TO ALL THE FUR KIDS THAT MAKE IT THERE UNTIL THEY GET ON THAT UNLIMITED RENTAL PLAN WITH NO RETURN.

It is not a dump - and all anyone can ever do is the best they can. Jeez, you think Blue is looking around saying, "Hey, where are the velvet curtains and the steaks!?" He is just thanking the angels who were watching over him and brought him to you. :D

Arda, you know that animals are smarter and have more soul than people do. They know so well that it has never been nor will it ever be about the material things in life. Look at all the pictures that have been taken of you and whatever furkid was with you and anybody can see the sheer love and adoration in those dogs eyes as they are looking at you.
I don't think these dogs have ever cared if they live in a 3 room house or a mansion, darn just love us is all they care about-love us when we're healthy and young and love us when we're sick and old.
Sh!t people can't even do that with our elderly (look at some nursing homes) let alone with their furkids. But I am just heartbroken that people can own a pet for 6 yrs and give it up so easily.
I am in tears over this. The only way I would ever give up my furkids is if someone else could save their lives and I could not.
Your place is not a dump, it is a love haven for all. Mary

Dogs don't know about beginnings, and they don't speculate on matters that occurred before their time.
Dogs also don't know-or at least don't accept-the concept of death.
With no concept of beginnings or endings, dogs probably don't know that for people, having a dog as a life companion provides a streak of light between two eternities of darkness

FIRST OF ALL YOUR PLACE IS NOT A DUMP!!! Animals like children have a real sixth sense as to love, security and safety. If I lived near you, I'd be there every weekend until you got so sick of me you'd kicked me out. I absolutely love being at your place. My Gracie came from a very wealthy home, I am not. Every day I look at this happy girl so full of herself and feeling so secure and loved that it warms my heart. When I got her she was not this way. You and your group of volunteers are VERY special people.

I am so angry I can hardly see through the tears!! How could anyone even dream of returning a dog after having it for even 6 hours, let alone 6 years. It is beyond my comprehension!! Just like our Dude (aka Capone) the people adopted him, kept him for 2 years or so, then returned him because they are having a baby and they just knew he would eat the baby. Oh come on, get real, the only way he would even come close to eating a baby is if it some how got in his food dish. He eats like there is no tomorrow, if it is in his dish he eats it with such relish, he probably wouldn't even realize what he ate!! He is the sweetest dog, but then again they all are in their own special way! So Arda, if you have any thoughts about getting Dude back, you will have to pry his leash out of our cold dead hands!!! I really feel for you, it must be really hard to put so much of yourself into finding good homes for these poor critters, only to have them brought back when they get older and are probably starting to have some health concerns. That is probably really the point, these "renters" only want the dogs until they are past the fun young age, then once they start showing their years they don't want to have to deal with the health problems and also final end. I am so sorry that you have to deal with this type of "person", but you do a wonderful service for all of those of us who know that the joy of having a dog in your life means loving it for the rest of its life. I apologize if I have ranted on, but it just makes me so ANGRY to think that "people" just rent their critters as if they aren't a living soul with feelings!!

Arda...we have a "dump" when we have no roof, no floor, no walls, no electricity, no heat, no clean water, no clean food, no food or water or hands to love an animal. We have a "dump" when we have no God, no hope, no breath of life, no friends, no Dobes! My dear and precious woman, you may have a lot less than you would like to have, and you may have some less than others...but in terms of a "dump"s comparison ~ darlin' you live in a PALACE where DobeAngels love on you day and night, sing your praises and wait for the love they know only YOU can give them. I know it's been a difficult life for you, but I know that right now looking around this world...I wouldn't have wanted to get AbbeyGirl from ANY other woman but the SwampMama at her SwampPalace.
Bless you dear girl, just bless you and feel better soon.
And to all who help Arda so faithfully...you are awesome, sweetly awesome!

Technically, Arda, you are absolutely correct and we thank God for you every day... TAKE PRIDE IN THAT FACT!!! but then we all live in dumps...

According to Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary a "dump" is defined as: (1a) an accumulation of refuse or other discarded materials and (1b) a place where such materials are dumped.

the part of the definition you are NOT is (3) a disorderly, slovenly, or dilapidated place.

Every thing is in it's place, we just don't know where that place is at any given moment... :D :D :D There is a big difference between being too busy to keep everything immacutely clean and not caring at all and as things can be they are fixed... so our runs aren't standing straight or the grass needs mowing... the dogs we've agreed to care for are fed, housed with warmth, treated with respect, and LOVED!!!

hi cathy i was wondering, i meet up with cab today to bring some news  papers out on sat to scd and she had a very cool sticker on her back window for scd do you have anymore or where can i get one         thanks frank

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Speaking of which, Cath, were you able to drop off one of those stickers for me at Arda's? I know I had asked you, but that was AWHILE ago, and I'd still like one for my van....

Thanks for reminding me, Frank!! :D

Arda,
Your place is not only a sanctuary for your dogs and furkids, to alot of "humans", and MYSELF definitely included it's the same. Right now, I'm going through issues, and I cannot WAIT until I can get over to the swamp to work off aggression/frustration, and whatever else I can get out of my system. Your "dump" refreshes my soul and spirit, makes me appreciate life and what it has to offer, and makes me realize that there is ALWAYS something that can be done to improve the life/lives of others, no matter what kind of financial or emotional straits you may be in.

You, in and of yourself, are an inspiration to all of us, even while living there in your "dump". We all run to you, talk with you, and join around you in good times, hard times, and all the in between times. You heal souls and spirits, Arda, dog and human alike, and no one can replace you, or do it as you do.

Your CanukieLand Kid finds refuge in your dump, as I'm sure alot of others in here do, when things get too rough in their own life. We find reassurance at the Swamp, that yes, life IS hard, but LIFE IS GOOD....

Love you, Swamp Mama!! :D

I realize now that I spoke in haste and anger yesterday. I should have waited until I simmered down before making a relpy! I can understand adopting a dog and having to return it after a short while if it doesn't meld with your family, not every dog can meld with every family situation. But the part I can't understand is how you can give an animal a home for 6 or more years and then decided it just isn't working out??!! Wouldn't you realize it before then??!!Sorry for speaking out in haste, I'll try and be more careful next time! And Arda I must agree with everyone else the Swamp isn't a dump, when we were there I found it to be really clean! I was impressed. I just wish we lived closer so we could come help out. The 4 1/2 hour drive is a little daunting!!

Lori, I'm with you...HOW after 6 years can you let go of one of your own?!?!?!
I don't get it....never will....I just don't understand people like that, and I guess in a way, I'm kind of glad I don't....
