The day I adopted Vegas, Arda asked me if I wanted to know his history-- I said no. Now, after building a relationship with him and learning all about his personality and quirks, I wonder about where he came from. Anyone know his story?

I don't have a clue on his history? I believe Arda gave you a copy of all his paper work that came in with him. Alot of the time they don't have any paperwork but their shot history from Arda's vet. All I can remember is someone was a BIG FOOL for letting him go. He is such a nice doberboy.

Thanks for the lovely responses, everyone! But I think I have a wonderful life with HIM, not the other way around:) We're working on getting his CGC this year, so wish us luck!

By the way... anyone think Vegas and Reggie might get along really well? Something about that older girl gets under my skin...

Vegas-update!!  It has been almost 3 years... and time sure flies.  Vegs is a very happy boy, but with a slightly more gray muzzle.  He hasn't lost a step and till loves to play fetch.  Now he helps other dogs transition from shelters to forever homes here in Chicago.  He is a foster brother to dogs from Safe Humane, a rescue that works with dogs whose owners are being prosecuted for neglect/abuse.  They need a calm, confident, balanced dog to help them learn what it is like to be a dog (and a house dog).  The pictures (hopefully I will figure out how to post them!) show him with two of his foster-siblings: Daffy (the black pit bull) and Junior (the tan pit bull).  Daffy was adopted in July, and Junior is headed to his adoptive forever home next week.  He also enjoys basking in the sunlight in the park across the street from our house, and even gets invited to weddings (check out his "Ring Security" badge)!  I also posted a photo of Vegas being a good ambassadog for his breed by meeting kids at the park, and him hanging out with his human "nephew".  Thanks again for all that you do at SCD!

What a wonderful update! Thanks for giving Vegas a great caring and loving home.

Makes your heart melt when we get great stories of the dogs that started out with such a ruff life.

And now live happily ever after and teach the foster dogs what a great life can be.

Thank you for fostering the others in need. :Star:  :Rose:

Vegas has a new foster sibling... another cruelty case dog whose owner was convicted. She sat in the shelter as "evidence" for over 230 days. Now he gets to teach her all about the good life. Little itty bitty pittie Justine loves her foster brother and is learning that life isn't so scary.

What a sad life little Justine has had so far, but you can see in her photos that she is a happy girl at heart and just wants to be loved.  Vegas looks pleased with his new sister.  She is very fortunate to have joined your family.  :)

230 days.  So very sad.  And the owner will probably never go to court.  Doesn't seem to be much justice in these cases. Glad she's getting a chance on a new life.
