Thanks for the update on Loki, I've been wondering how he was doing.

I love the picture of him in front of the tulips, what a handsome boy.

Great pictures! Love both, but especially the one with the hat. That's something I would do! Thanks for the update on Loki! Glad he is better!

Janet, you take the nicest pictures! It's a great relief to hear Loki's cough is all gone.

Wow, I sure wish that you had found a real cause of that gaggling cough because my Saffron did the same exact thing last year. I took her into the vet and the moron (I'm very mad at him right now) did not even consider it anything. Saffron would cough then gag hard as if she were wretching something up that was stuck in her throat. She passed away suddenly this past weekend from cardiomyopathy.

If I were you I would at least get a full heart exam to really comfort yourself. When I get another dobie someday, (after this grief wears down if it ever does) I will be getting an ekg as a regular part of my dog's checkup. Some literature suggests gagging as a symptom. Did my idiot former vet miss this? We're blaming him because we're angry and because the new vet knew right away that Saffie was sick and did an ekg on her.

And most of these vets have never heard of Pimobendon which is giving our kids a lot of quality time. Brandy got an extra 6 or 7 months. Karen had one that went on for 2 years. Don's old boy is still perking with it. We have been using it for about 4 years and it is great.

Is Pimobendan something the vet can prescribe or do you have to special order it?

Prescription! And sometimes hard to find a vet to prescribe it. We stabilzed Brandy here with a local vet and got her straight to Karen. She did the EKG and we put her on it. Jeannie went too fast. I was so sick and I wasn't watching her as closely as I should have. Heather was here with me. I took a nap and she was gone. She was 14 1/2 years of age. I miss her.
