I'm wondering about the gate protocol. Obviously, we open the gate and close it behind us. But I'm still terrified that some dogs will be loose and could escape through the gate before we can get out of the car to go around and close it behind us. So how is that handled?

Pam, I will send you a PM with the address so you can mapquest it.

Cheri, if everyone arrives right around 11-11:30am, we will have all the dogs inside. If anyone has to arrive later, please let us know so we can get the dogs inside. We do not want any dogs escaping!

A majic wand! You will all just have to forgive an old woman who can not juggel 30 dogs and a kennel and a yard and a home all at the same time.

I don't know how you do it Arda!?! I can barely manage 4 dogs. Plus.. a job, house upkeep and volunteer work. Sometimes they drive me nuts. With 30 I'd be in a nuthouse. :)

Seriously, I'd be a basket case. I don't know how you do it.

Diamond Maintenance! Thank you, Sarah, for answering another question I was going to ask. If I can find it, I'll bring some.

Sorry you won't be there, Nancy! I was looking forward to seeing you again.

I am just sick since this was my idea but I cannot make it. My car needs 2 tires and an exhaust repair. I am afraid I'd get into turnpike trouble. I'm almost useless as a worker with all my health issues(don't get me started) so I'm going to send Arda the money I would have spent on gas. That is a great idea for anyone else who can't make it. Especially since Arda doesn't like to ask for things! I really apologize for not making this event as I was looking forward to meeting the group! I hope the turnout is good and the weather is decent, it is bonding to work together for a good cause as someone said. There is no cause better than helping Arda with those dobes! Linda

I sure did enjoy seeing everyone today and putting faces to names I see on the forum! Lots of hard workers that is for sure. Now I have to go see if I can find Anya(?), which is Karen's dog. Boy her daughters really worked hard!

A good time was had by these two happy campers here because there were plenty of dogs to pet. Thanks to Arda for a terrific meal which was totally unexpected. It was like old times!

*door opens*

*Bark*  *Bark*  *Bark*

Peanut, you barked at your Dad??

It's me, Peanut, don't you recognize me?

*bark?*

What in the world are you doing coming in the back door?  I don't know if I have ever seen you come in the back door.  I am usually with you.  How did you get to the store without me?  How did you get out of the house unnoticed?  What is going on here?????  Are we off our schedule?????    AAAAAAAAAaaaeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!??????

*oof*

I protest.

  Whadja bring me?

Look I found a 19 squeaker toy for 75% off!

*squeak* *squeak* *squeak*

It was a good day. It was really a great day. Thank you all for helping me out. All the kids will sleep good tonight and if they let me go to bed, so will I. This was a good day.

I also really enjoyed the day. It was nice to meet some new folks and see others again. Yep, I think Karen's girls were two of the hardest workers there! What beautiful weather we had, too! Very mild temps, sunshine. And thanks again, Arda, for a great lunch! Linda, I'm so sorry you couldn't make it, but what a nice idea you came up with. :)

Had an awesome time today--my first trip to SCD. It was so much fun seeing all the dogs. I don't know how adopters know which one to pick. They're each so unique, funny, & friendly. Arda, your chili was yummy--I had two bowls. We were all sorry, Nancy & Linda, that you couldn't make it. Hopefully, we can do this again & we can see you then. Joni, missed you, too--now you have to come over here! Thanks everyone for a great experience! :)

I thought about "all of you" the ENTIRE DAY and so sorry I was
not there. Your not getting off easy Arda there are many more
days ahead.

Now to be perfectly honest, I was dying to see.....
none other then "Prince Charming".

I stagered t the kennel this morning..........The main door has a new remote control button and it worked. YEAH! Walked in to a toasty warm heated kennel Woopy! No big ole draft from the ceiling vent fan. WONDERFUL! Water barrels were filled. YES! Leaves were still smoltering. OK! Water in the horses water pail was not frozen. Great! Tinker was laying in fresh straw in the horse pen. SMILEING! As I headed t the house, there was no air conditioners on the deck. WOOW! The burnt out bulbs were changed so I could see all the way down the hill and to the kennel. SUPER! A ton of the leaves are gone. YIPEY! And can you believe that kennel area off the back of the house was clean and smelling good for a few minutes. I ask for a redo, I forgot, we have to retrain after a year away from the job. For a minute I forgot I was at home. What a day of caring it was.
