Bella was really well trained by her former owners. Took both of them to the dog park early this morning and no matter how far Bella roamed from me she always came running back when called. No problems with the few other dogs that were there at 7:30.

Bella has so far been a perfect lady. I'm sure that will change a bit as she grows accustomed to us and starts trying to find out what she can get away with here.
Thanks Arda for your work. As usual, your Dobie match-making skills are excellent.
Oh, and guys, one bit of advice: If you come to The Swamp and want to take Arda out to dinner, a $50 donation to SCD is NOT enough for her to lower her standards. . Just sayin'...

Ha! Bella you hit the jackpot here! There's no better home you could have. I'm glad everything is cool so far, I know she's in great hands. And a little advice next time, you'd have done better with some Blueberry-peach pie and some Aaron Neville.
The pie wouldn't have worked. The last piece would have been gone before I even got to Jackson.

Ken and Breena were out today to visit. Breena was ready for a playmate, and she decided Bella was just about right. Bella is a sweet girl and we hope she and Breena become the best of buddies. We can't wait to hear updates on the girls. Thank you Ken, for once again, opening you heart and home to a Dobe in need.

Breena and Bella are getting along just fine. They aren't really playing together yet but that will come with time as they get used to their new situations. After dinner, first on the list was a bath for Bella. Arda: Did you know that she was a shape-shifter? Yep, as soon as I tried to get her into the tub she changed from a Dobermann into a not-so-solid 80 some pound bag of concrete! Ok then, it was out into the yard and a bath under the garden hose. She actually behaved well throughout the bath but she sure wasn't going anywhere near that tub.
Bella was really well trained by her former owners. Took both of them to the dog park early this morning and no matter how far Bella roamed from me she always came running back when called. No problems with the few other dogs that were there at 7:30.

And jut where was all these dinner dates when I was young and beautiful? They wait till I have had 4 strokes and spill food down the front of me; am 100 pounds over weight; and can't outrun them. This isn't a fair judgement of me and my kids.

Bella is a sweet girl who wants to please but she does have some issues that need to be addressed. She has had recall training in the past and has been very good on it at least until this morning. I took her to the dog park early this morning and for the first time she refused to come when I called multiple times. I guess the honeymoon is over and now the test of wills begins. Well, Bella lost the first round. As soon as I got hold of her it was back to the truck for her where she could watch Breena and I continue the walk. She is a smart dog and should be able to make the connection: If you don't listen, you don't participate.
I don't think her previous owner ever did leash training so we have been working on that every day and she has responded well. She is leash and fence agressive towards other dogs. Some times the other dog starts it and Bella isn't going to take any gruff so it's game on. But sometimes I think Bella "greets" the other dog a little too aggressive or starts the domination thing. At the dog park she can get along with most dogs but every time I take her there seems to be at least one incident. I am guessing that she has not been properly socialized with other dogs and maybe hasn't had much interaction with them. Obedience or some type of socialization training is in her future.
So only a little bit of work to be done and then I will have the perfect dog. Yeah, right.
Of course, we all want to see pictures of all of the SCD family dogs so here come some recent ones.
