Hello Everyone-

Sky had her drain tube out...no problem. She gets her stiches out Friday. She's still wants to chase squirrels though and hates the "cone"....just stands there with her head hanging low....poor baby. She's been kind of pent up and wants to run, run, run. She'll have a wicked mad scar but we tell her it's her tough chick scar.

She has a play date coming up Saturday and we're going on a two mile hike to get her back into her groove. ;-)

It's always great to hear such good news. Way to go Sky.

Thank you for the update on Sky, I was wondering how she was doing. Sounds like she is doing well, now to convince her that it isn't worth it to chase squirrels!! :whistling: Although now she probably wants revenge!

My Ruby ended up with about a 6-7" scar on her back from some sort of creeping skin crud. If someone remarked on it, I just said...'should have seen the other dog'....Am I bad :whistling:

Hey Everyone-

Sky got her stitches out Friday and had a play date Saturday. I can't believe how fast she bounced back. She was walking on it the next morning after 2 hours of surgery. Jumping off the deck 36 hours after. It's like she never got hurt, though we see a slight favoring when she runs.

I swear we must have picked out the most soft-hearted, docile, sweet dob Arda had in the place 'cause all the other dogs just rule over her...drives me nuts. Even our 15lb cat takes her bed and pushes her around.

Both Abby and Jade (sisters' and friends' dogs) are dominant females. They play with her maybe 50% of the time, the rest of the time is spent taking her food, nipping at her and guarding all the humans. I need to find another submissive female for her to play with just so she doesn't get picked on! I know what most of you are thinking and no, I can't talk my husband into another one. After Sky's surgery, we call her our little money pit. :whistling:

I think I'm due to post some pics soon. We took some of her wound but I didn't think folks would like to see it. I may show you her tough chick scar though if interested. Thanks for all the warm thoughts.

Bonnie

Now that I know she has healed nicely, I actually would like to see the pics of her wound, as well as the ones of her 'tough chick' scar. I would also like to see some of just her being the happy sweet Dobe that she is! :whistling: Thanks for the update on her and we are looking forward to the pictures!

Oh my gosh, that injury was bad. She is just a gorgeous little girl, just a little tom-boy in her. Glad she is doing well.

I forgot to tell you all that she has definitely decided not to chase squirrels. She'll jump off the deck but won't chase them to their trees anymore. I guess she'll have to stick with moles.....

This is Sky's 1-1/2 year update. She's now trail rated! We just got back from Hocking Hills State Forest in Ohio and she had a ball. The campground allows dogs as do all but one of the trails. So many new smells....so little time. It's just amazing how well she behaves. Most of the people we passed on the trails were frustrated because she ignores them when we go by and they want to pet her. She is definitely a home body and won't leave the yard (and didn't leave the campsite either). She wants to make sure we're always in her sight. She actually treed her first racoon (perhaps she temporarily forgot about the squirrel incident). She stared down a deer munching not four feet from her and didn't move.

I had trouble getting the pics to load so plopped them onto Photobucket.

I hadn't yet joined the discussion board when you adopted Sky, but I always love it when previous adopters post updates. Looks like everyone enjoyed hiking at Hocking Hills. We've been there with our Dobes, too. It's a beautiful area. Thanks for sharing the pictures. I'm so glad Sky got such a wonderful forever family.

Hello Everyone-

We spent Labor day weekend on Pelee Island in Canada with some friends and took Sky and their dog Jade. I'm not sure if this qualifies her as an international traveler???..she had a great time (slept well each night).
