Man survives horrendous accident with help from his faithful canines

Dogs, according to an old adage, are man’s best friend.
Marlin Shorb, a 64-year-old Freedom Township resident, spent a long four hours with his best friends on a blustery April afternoon following a tragic accident.
Shorb, a veteran staffer of the Gettysburg Times mail room, was cutting trees at his 56-acre farm along the 1200 block of Bullfrog Road, when the project suddenly went awry. Limbs from a 30-foot tree fell onto Shorb, knocking him to the ground shortly after 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 20.
“I didn’t know what to think. I didn’t know what was going to happen,” says Shorb, who was not carrying a cellular phone. “By daybreak, I could have been dead.” Continue reading here.
