Craig and his family came out today looking for a new family member and Emily was very happy to be that special one . I'm sure we are going to hear a lot about this pretty little girl from Craig's brother as Craig stated his little brother Eric . Eric as most of us know him as Levi's dad . Levi will fall in love when he meets little Emily !!
We wish them all the best and please let us know how everything is going !!

Thanks for all the kind words and wishes.

Here is a couple of pictures of the former "Emily" in her new home. She has made friends with everybody as if this is where she has been all along. She is following commands already and has an obsession with balls. She has found two balls and will play with them herself is no one notices her. She loves to chase them and bring them back.
She had to explore and check out every person and every room of the house to see what kind of domain she has. She has very sharp hearing and vision but is not easily startled.
She spent her first night in a crate. She only whimpered a couple of times then went right to sleep for the whole night. She went right outside in the morning and did her business as if she knows all this stuff already.
She keeps trying to be friends with our other little white fur ball, Rudi, but Rudi wants nothing to do with her.
More to follow later!
Just wanted to say what a very pleasant experience it was meeting and talking to Arta, Kathey, and Kari. They are such smart, friendly, informative people about the dogs they love.
Thanks,
Craig & Vera Dobis Family
(Joey, Sarah, Marybeth, and Hannah (& Rudi, Grrrrrr))

Hey everyone, Craig's son Joe here (holding the leash in the photo above). Everyone is still working on a name for her. I am amazed at how smart she is being so young. Like my dad said, she follows commands really well. I'm sure once we get a name for her she'll do even better. Yeah Rudi doesn't like her at all. She growls everytime "Emily" comes near her. I tried working with them today, but no go. Rudi feels like there is an enemy in the house. She'll have to get over it. "Emily" tries to play with her, but quickly gets the message when Rudi YAPS at her. She doesn't seem to want to press the issue, and i don't blame her.

The Dog Whisperer would have you take them for a long walk each day together. By long I mean at least 40 minutes. Keep them on either side of you and separated until they get the feeling that they are both in the same pack. Walking together reinforces pack behavior. Once Rudi understands that Emily is a part of his pack, they will get along better. That's what the Dog Whisperer would do, IMO!

What a GORGEOUS dobe! :(

What in the world are you doing coming in the back door?  I don't know if I have ever seen you come in the back door.  I am usually with you.  How did you get to the store without me?  How did you get out of the house unnoticed?  What is going on here?????  Are we off our schedule?????    AAAAAAAAAaaaeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!??????

I protest.

What a cutie pie!! Thanks for giving her a good home.

As for Rudi, give it time. He's got to give his place and be the crabby fart for a little while. He'll get curious and start checking her out as soon as she starts smelling like 'home'.
My neighbors adopted 'Paisley' and the their mean little Chihuahua hated her at first, but it only took a little bit of time and now they play like crazy.
For the love of K.A.T.

Emily's new name is now LEAH .. Thats what the gang decided on.

Rudi is a maltese/shihtzu mix.. She loves humans, but hates other dogs. She isn't vicious and doesn't bite, but she just likes to let them know who's boss. And believe me, she thinks she's boss to other dogs. We'll let you know how the pack running goes after a while.

Leah managed to lick her incision open yesterday, so today it was a trip to Dr. Zarish's office (she saw dr. heinz). They flushed it, and gave her some antibiotics in a shot, and also some oral to take home. She now has to wear a cone for a week until it heals.

What do you think of the new name?
