Someone told us that their vet in Muskegon said nylabones were bad for dog's teeth because it removes the enamel off their teeth. I've never heard of that. Does anyone know anything about this. thanks and Everyone Have A Great Holiday Season

I have never heard anything about that before, but I don't use nylabones either.

It matters to the one you save.

Never heard that before. I know that a few years back they had a recall that they don't digest in a dogs stomach.

I wouldn't think Nylabones would not be any worse for your dogs to chew than rawhides, as far as the teeth are concerned. Nylabones are made of a plastic like material. The dogs do wear them down, but I've always heard they were actually good for scrubbing the plaque off the teeth.

I think it all depends on how agressive a chewer the dog is. If chewing a long time on any chew bone could do damage to teeth. I know the nylabones being quite hard, it can on a occasion break a tooth, but again, depends on how much and hard the dog chews. I usually limit time for chewing any chew toy.

I have never heard they were bad either. I have always
given them to my dogs. My shepherd lived to almost
10yrs and had beautiful teeth, Hunter well what can
you say he just like SOFT stuff nothing rough about
that boy, Schaudeh is 12yrs and has beautiful teeth
yet. They have never chewed them for a long
period at a time, I have never experienced broken
teeth or bad teeth, just my experience with them.

Brinks loves the nylabones, but I have to agree that they do not digest them at all. He has rather "festive" poops in all colors of nylabone  . I can't believe that they would be any worse for teeth than rawhides.
I let the 4yr olds play with playdough a while back and they had a great time with it. Apparently Chyna was helping to keep the floors beneath them clean because she had rainbow poops the next day  . Thank God it's non-toxic..and here I thought the girls were being so neat...
We give dogs the time we can spare, the space we can spare, and the love we can spare. And, in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.
