The Adventures of Indy

Hello all. I'm not sure if anyone is still subscribed to this thread or not. It has been awhile since I've posted. Indy and I have had a great summer! We have been all over Michigan. He is quite the vagabond and always up for an adventure. He has swam (well, waded into) Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. We camped at Fisherman's Island for four days and in Marquette for five. He spent a long weekend with me in Leland at a friend's house with twelve other people and three other dogs and did great! He loves people and he tolerates the other dogs. He likes to play, but can still be skiddish when the other dogs start to get too excited then he wants nothing to do with it and runs to find me for protection. Speaking of protection, he hates fireworks and thunderstorms. The Fourth of July was not a good week in the Indy/Nick household. He's a big cuddler normally, but during this week I probably tripped over him four or five times as he was right behind me everywhere I went. Same with Thunderstorms and we have had several of those. Often times when I'm at work I will see that it is storming and leave early so that he doesn't have to ride it out by himself. He likes it. My boss is indifferent. But hey, Indy is my kid.

We've got another camping trip this weekend in Ohio and then we are done for the year. Oh, I forgot to mention Indy does great in the car as well. He sits right down and usually just sleeps. Sometimes, he'll look out the window. It has been a great summer with my new best friend and I look forward to the Fall and many, many more seasons with him. All and all, he has been the perfect dog. Of course, I'm probably a bit biased.

Here are a few pics to see what we've been up to.

The first one is Wagner Falls in the UP. He was only chained up long enough for me to get his picture.

Our campsite in Munising. Not seen are all of the ducks on Lake Superior which he promptly chased away upon arrival and then ensured they never came back.

No summer is complete without a trip home to see my family and their dog, Luca (on the right). Luca is a rescue too, she is about eight years old and really doesn't like anyone but my parents and me. Believe it or not, she took to Indy almost immediately. They're not quite best friends, but my parents tell me Luca runs around the house looking for Indy when we leave, and is sad for a few hours after she realizes he's not there. Everyone loves him!

After this summer, Indy is wiped out. Sometimes he lets me sleep in the bed too.

It looks like you and Indy had a lot of fun this summer. I bet he loves going everywhere with you. What a handsome little boy he is. Thank you so much for the update. We LOVE pictures!!

For the thunderstorms and fireworks you can try using Rescue Remedy:  http://www.bachflowe...dy-information/       I buy it at my local health food store. It really helps my girl Alley. She is also terrified of them. This seems to take the edge off, and she will not freak out as much.

It matters to the one you save.

The pictures are great!!!!  Its great you've given Indy such a great home he deserves it.  We were just up in Munising as well to do the pictured rock shore and the waterfall hikes, its beautiful up there.

I know what you mean about them becoming our kids, I consider mine the same and have also had to accommodate a super scaredy-cat-dobe during storms and fireworks.  If people only knew the dog that made them think twice about walking along our fence turned into a pile of goo at the sound of a firecracker!!  And for some reason the low battery beep from the smoke detector was menacing as well apparently.  :He He:
