The Swanson family came out today to meet our little Cookie. The Swanson family had a Dober-girl, Keisha, before and we all know how this breed steals your heart. They knew they wanted to share their home with another Dobe who needed a family. Cookie is such a sweet, smart little girl, it was basically love at first sight. Their daughters and Cookie hit it off and our sweet little Cookie monster is on to a home of her own. Congratulations and thank you for opening your hearts and home to a rescue Dobe!

We received an update on Cookie:

I just want to tell you that we already totally Ga-Ga over this dog! She is so sweet and snuggle-y. She seems very comfortable here and just wants to lean against your or flop in your lap (on the floor of course).

She has however, vomited about 3 times since getting home and I was wondering if she has done that before. She has not eaten anything or even taken a milkbone, but otherwise she's fine, energetic and alert.

I was thinking it was the heartworm that upset her..?

Thanks again for all you do for this awesome breed, we love her already!

Thanks for the update, Kelly! I am so happy for Cookie, she got an excellent home with your family! She may be vomiting just because of the change in environment, she should straighten out in the next couple of days. I'm sure Arda will answer you soon about how she was while at SCD.

Thank you for giving Cookie such a wonderful, loving home!

We have not had a problem with her vomiting here. Maybe the stress. What are you feeding her? Water changes can be a big part of upset tummies. Try a small amount of canned food to put something in her. The heart worm pill could have upset her also. Give her a couple of days to settle and keep me updated. I'll be watching for word from you. Maybe just a little quiet time for her.

Yes, we added this unbelievably sweet girl to our home Saturday! When Cookie (now known as Lily) jumped in the back of the car five minutes after meeting her, like "let's go", we knew she picked us just as much as we picked her. Everyone is absolutely crazy about this girl already; even grandma is smitten. If you sit on the floor she just flops on you and rolls over for a belly rub, her favorite thing. She willingly jumped in the tub for a bath and is cozy in her fluffy bed wearing her new pink collar (thank you SCD) with her heart shaped name tag already in place. She's thinks the cats and the horses are scary, but with all the two-leggeds here smothering her with love, she's pretty happy! Thank you SCD for all you do for these beautiful dogs, we are truly blessed to add her to our family.

Congrats Kelly and welcome to the board! I'm glad she is settling in nicely now, and thank you for opening your home to her. Without homes like yours we aren't able to do a thing.

I don't know how I missed this. The look on her face says it all: I'm home. Congratulations on your "forever home," Cookie a/k/a Lily. Thank you for the update. So happy to hear that Lily is adjusting and so comfortable. More photos, please!!

What a fabulous update  . Sounds like Lily is settling in nicely...just took her a while to realize she was there to stay. Isn't it fun to be able to put their ID tag on them with YOUR name and address? I just love it!

Hello everyone,

We have had Lily (aka Cookie) now for almost 6 weeks. She is an absolute joy! She has never had an accident in the house, doesn't counter surf, doesn't chew stuff up, only pottys in the woods and she listens well even in the yard (no fence, 6 acres). She loves to ride in the car and even tells me when it's time to go get the girls from school! She is however, the worst guard dog ever! :) After my daugher built her the ultimate 'princess and the pea' bed out of pillows and blankets, she was sleeping so soundly, she never heard us come home....not the diesel truck, the slamming doors, people walking through the house! Not until I bent down to pet her did she look up like "hey, your home!".....china, silver anyone?????

Lily has blessed us in so many ways and we thank God daily for her. She helped mend our broken hearts quickly. My husband even calls her sweetie, baby, and honey more than me! Thanks again SCD for all you do and allowing us to bring Lily into our home. I'll post pictures soon.
