There is such a void after the loss of one's loyal friend and true companion. My heart goes out to you. May God help ease your sadness, and lighten your heart knowing that she's free of pain. Sadie will always be with you in your memory, and no one can take that from you. You have my sympathy and condolences. I have four Dobes at the Bridge. I wish your post had been under more pleasant circumstances.

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated ... I hold that, the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man.

My Precious boy Adonis died Jan 8th of cancer. He was just shy of 3 yrs old. And I miss him to this day. But knowing that he is healthy and happy at the Bridge helps the hurt a lot. Welcome to our family. Mary

Dogs don't know about beginnings, and they don't speculate on matters that occurred before their time.
Dogs also don't know-or at least don't accept-the concept of death.
With no concept of beginnings or endings, dogs probably don't know that for people, having a dog as a life companion provides a streak of light between two eternities of darkness

I am so sorry for your loss. I also have two dogs and one cat waiting for me at the Bridge. Welcome to our group.

I, too, lost a Sadie last June. She was a sweet 14 year old red girl with no visible signs of illness. It happened within a 4 hour time period & I was absolutely devestated. No other dog can ever replace the ones we lose but there are so many wonderful Dobes out there looking for someone to give love to. When your heart has had a chance to begin to heal, please consider giving one a second chance. I did & I have not regretted it at all! You're in my thoughts. Please keep us posted.
