He is such a beautiful boy, and I know he brought so much beauty and love into your life. You're right, Deena, that you are among friends here, people who have been where you are and understand that pain. My heart will be with you today.

I'm so very sorry for the grief you are going through. Please never doubt that you did the right thing. You gave Vegas one final act of love and kindness and compassion by taking away his pain and suffering, even though it caused you great sorrow. I hope that time will help you heal, and that one day the memories of all the happy times with him will outweigh the sadness. Run free and joyfully at the Bridge, Vegas. You will always be greatly loved.

So sorry for your loss. Just seen this post, been out of town. You did the right thing for Vegas and you.
It is never easy for any of us, it is so emotional and heartbreaking. All our hearts go out to you. He was loved so much.
The bucket list made me cry and laugh at the same time, how special to even get his CGC title.
Run Free to the breeze and the wind blowing on your face sending Mom your love and thanking her for loving you so much
to let you run free.

"The bucket list made me cry and laugh at the same time, how special to even get his CGC title"
I had him signed up for an exam on Feb 11th. When I contacted the instructor to see if she could do a special exam the next day, it turned out that she still had to re-register with the AKC since her registration had expired. She actually called the AKC folks, they rushed her paperwork to re-certify her, and they all did this in under 24hrs. I still wasn't going to do it because Vegas was in too much pain to put any weight on his leg, but for some reason, for about an hour, he was almost not limping at all. Since the instructor was only a mile away, we (my roommate and my upstairs neighbor and I) were able to pack him into a car and get him certified in less than 30 min. Then we gave him soft tacos and frozen yogurt treats.
