Yes he did really well. Of course I'm the one who messed up though. Sarah and I both have been through this basic class multiple times as well as the advanced off leash class. So we are supposed to teach recall (from a sit-stay you call them and they end right in front of you sitting) as a separate thing from finish(with them right in front facing you, you give command to heel and they walk behind you ending on your left sitting in heel position). Having taken the advanced class I knew eventually you do put those two things together but forgot you are supposed to wait until you have a solid recall by itself first.

So of course after a week of doing them together I could no longer get Stone to just come and sit right in front because he started anticipating that "finish" and wanted to now end sitting in heal position. So he would come toward me but then either try and pass me and go behind me coming around to heel position or just shortcut it to my left and try to turn and face the same direction as me. So handler error there. Sarah is going to take him through advance class this spring so I guess it's her problem now. :He He:

Congratulations Stone! You had more than the advantage of being the only Dobe, you also have a great Mom & Dad. (I think you already knew that!) Linda

Super job you guys!! I wouldn't expect anything less from a doberman and his excellent handlers:)

Well she was there with a young Shepard of hers working but the class was instructed by Diane Thayer the lady who first taught Maddie and got her involved. Yes Maddie is doing great and still dominating the obedience competition world.

A friend of mine is having issues with a yound boxer and I recommended Maddie. Maybe she should look into one of Dianne's classes. Are they at Bullock Creek School? Do you have contact info?

The classes are at Swan Valley High School in Shields. BUT- Diane goes to FL for the winter and won't have another class until April. I know because I asked about putting Stone in advanced obedience. I really don't want to wait until spring. I was debating trying the Midland Kennel Club.

It matters to the one you save.

Congratulations on your graduation! Stone looks so cute in his cap and tassel.

There's also Companion Dog Training Club of Flint. A couple members of my club are also members there because they live kind of in between. Don't know if that would be too far for you or if they are offering any classes you would be interested in:

Good luck in your continued training! Are you guys thinking about doing anything like agility or rally?

Congratulations Sarah and Joaquin on your adoption of Stone! He sure is a beautiful boy! Congratulations on your graduation Stone! You're a shining star! That's a great pic of you and your daddy!
The embedded collars in his neck when we got him and he goes back and extends the gentle paw to the human race. One heck of a dog.
