South Bend Maverick Max struted his stuff today and won the hearts of Jill and Brian Hawkins of Marshal. Jill and Brian had adopted Zues/Zane a month ago but they couldn't work through some of his issues and habits. We wish Maverick/ max all the best and look forward to updates and pictures.

It makes me so happy to hear that Max got adopted today. I wish the best to Max and his new family. Max is a very good boy as I could tell for the short time that he spent in my home, no behavioral issues or problems whatsoever. I'm sure that the Hawkins' will be extremely happy with Max and I wish them all the best.

Jill & Brian..
I was so happy to see the 2 of you bond with Maverick today!! I wish you all the best, and hope it works out for all of you!! It was nice to meet you two today out at Arda's. I hope Max settles in okay and you two enjoy his quiet demeanor. He is such a lover, I can't tell you how happy it made me feel to see him get another chance at a forever home. :)

When I brought Tiki home, it took her almost nine months, I think, to wag her tail at us. She just didn't think she was staying for good. She would stand like a show dog and let people pet her or examine her like it was a duty or something. It wasn't until we picked her up at the vet's after an over night stay that she actually wagged her little rear end when she saw us. It was the first real sign of recognition that I had noticed in her. I think she thought that she had been dumped again, and she was a totally different dog after seeing us that day. A much much happier dog. It was that moment in time when she realized that she was a member of our family. I can almost sense the same thing in Max, but I can't be sure.

Take real good care now. Give Max a huge hug for me!!! :D

*Bark*  *Bark*  *Bark*

Peanut, you barked at your Dad??

It's me, Peanut, don't you recognize me?

*bark?*

What in the world are you doing coming in the back door?  I don't know if I have ever seen you come in the back door.  I am usually with you.  How did you get to the store without me?  How did you get out of the house unnoticed?  What is going on here?????  Are we off our schedule?????    AAAAAAAAAaaaeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!??????

*oof*

I protest.

  Whadja bring me?

Look I found a 19 squeaker toy for 75% off!

*squeak* *squeak* *squeak*

Omigosh! Reading that absolutely broke my heart! Your poor little Tiki! Don't you wonder what our poor "kids" go through before they find us? So glad for all the ones like Max & Tiki & my Rudy who find their forever homes--hope there are many more to come.

Jill and Brian -

Best wishes to you and Maverick. Sounds like he's going to fit right in. I couldn't be happy for all of you. :)

If anyone doubts miracles exist or that there are still decent people in this world they only need to read the messages on this board. Makes me proud to be associated with the adopters, potential adopters, the staff, volunteers, and of course the adoptees, who no matter what nightmares they have been through, what pain and suffering they have experienced, they still give US a "second chance". Way to go Mav. Mary

Dogs don't know about beginnings, and they don't speculate on matters that occurred before their time.
Dogs also don't know-or at least don't accept-the concept of death.
With no concept of beginnings or endings, dogs probably don't know that for people, having a dog as a life companion provides a streak of light between two eternities of darkness

Hey Arda/Kevin, anyone...
Has anyone heard anything from Brian and Jill how it's going with Maverick? They had said they would keep us updated, but nothing as of yet. I hope it's going well with him. He is SUCH a sweetheart dog. Just thought I'd ask...
