No pictures yet but I will work on it.

So Ike is pretty fantastic! I will always miss Mak but Ike is really more than I could have wished for in a new Doberboy.

Great news! Both Ike and Piper went to see Dr. O' Grady at U of Guelph for their intitial check ups and were both found DCM clear at this point. They were both so well behaved too.

Thanks again to everyone involved as we could not be happier with Piper and Ike....they are AWESOME!

I'm glad you and Ike are bonding so well. It's great that they both had good results! Thanks for doing the U of Guelph tests. Anything they can do to fight DCM is a blessing. It's such a devastating disease in this breed.

It matters to the one you save.

Here is a link to some pics of Ike and friends at the cottage:

http://pets.webshots...573893941jqzqJf

Not sure why Piper isn't in any of them except she is far too busy to pose! She is the dog swimming in pic 28....fetching is her passion! Also in those pics are Jet the Standard Poodle who is Pipers brother and Lola the German Hunt Terrier who is Ike's little sister. With the exception of Jet (my mothers friend is/was a breeder and wanted her to have one from her last litter)....what a fine bunch of dogs that people didn't want. Their loss....our gain :)

Great pics! Thanks for sharing :)

I'm 90% sure this is Ike. Arda had a bunch of pics on her camera, so I'm attempting to find where they go. If this isn't you, Sarah, sorry!

Sorry, just saw this now. Yes! That is Ike and I.

He is doing very well by the way. Snooping through shelves in my office right now in fact....sorry Ike, no snacks in there!

He and Lola (The German Hunt Terrorist) get along well but sadly, will never be best friends.....no fault of Ikes. Lesson learned....should have just gone with a second Dobe!!

Lola will be competing as an Ontario Dock Dog this summer and I am hoping that Ike might learn to swim and be able to take part as well. So far he is no Michael Phelps but we are working on it!

What is a dock dog? Is it where they jump off the dock for distance? I have seen that on tv.

I'm glad to hear that Ike is doing well. He's such a gorgeous boy. How is Piper?

Yes that and a few other variations. Here is the web addy:

http://www.ontariodockdogs.com/

Ike is awesome. I am so lucky. Piper is doing great as well. Both of my parents have retired and moved north so she really does live the best life a dog could ask for. She is out with my dad every day on their property....swimming, fetching, hunting.....heaven for a dog.

25 lbs of crazy is what she is! She is very sweet with humans, great around horses, cats....but forget about other dogs! Ike has almost killed her twice after being so patient for so long and I am hoping she has learned her leason. Probably not though so I just don't leave them alone together for even a second. She is an amazing athlete, smart and very cute but not a dog for most people.

The origin of the breed is that the Germans wanted their own breed to compete with the ultimate Terrier of the day (The Wire Haired Fox Terrier.....had one of those too...also crazy) so they manufactured what they considered the ultimate hunting Terrier. I do love her but she is tough.
