His lung is still leaking so he still has his chest tube, but the doctor said they could try letting him walk occasionally by disconnecting the suction for a little while. The doctor is figuring on a few more days in the step down part of the cardiac unit which is not intensive care. It could be as long as two weeks or as few as two days, but they do not want him leaving the hospital with a chest tube if they can at all help it. Please pray that the lung heals up. The doctor said it was not the same problem he had in the past. This problem should fix itself but it will take time.

Carolyn and Don visited with him today which we really appreciated, and my neighbor Bernadette invited me over for a great meal complete with enough food for tomorrow. How great is our God?! :D
Well time to decompress. May God bless all of you.

Love in Jesus,
Jane and Larry

Well, today they decided to clamp off the suction until tomorrow and they will xray to see if the lung starts to collapse again. Please pray it will not. Please also pray that Larry will get some sound sleep. It is wearing on him after this major surgery.

He got visitors today and some phone calls which helped to lift his spirits, but you can tell he is exhausted. He was not feeling that good, but he did go for two walks and did wonderfully.

Thanks again for all the support. May the Lord God of heaven and earth get the glory He deserves. God bless you all.
In Jesus,

Jane and Larry

Hi everyone. I have a new prayer request about Larry. He went into atrial fibrillation for several hours in the middle of the night so when they got him back into sinus rhythm they put him back on blood thinners to avoid clotting. They now think he will be in the hospital another 2-3 days while they build up the blood thinner levels in his blood. Please pray that the a- fib goes away and that it is not a permanent condition.
His lung is still leaking but probably half as much as yesterday so that is good news! Hopefully in 2-3 days all issues will be resolved. He still needs sleep because he was up with the a-fib last night and down to xray in the morning. The other good news is that he is off oxygen which is a good sign and makes him more mobile and he can wheel his IV and chest tube around freely so he needs less help. Any freedom of movement is such a relief to him.
Well that is all for now. We covet your prayers and praise God for them. May the Lord be glorified forevermore.
In Jesus,
Jane and Larry

Jane I hope both of you are getting some sleep. It is a blessing to get some rest when you dont feel good and you are stressed. Ask the doctor if Larry can get a pt/inr tester for at home if he has to stay on the blood thinners - it is just like testing for blood sugar. I have been doing my own at home for two years.
For he shall send angels to watch over you and guard you
Prayers for you both Terri and Libby

Larry had a cat scan today and it showed that the lung is still leaking so they gave him a couple of options. The one he is taking is to keep the chest tube in, go home, wait for the lung to heal on its own and then have the tube pulled. The a-fib was not an issue in the last 24 hours, but they will ratchet up the blood thinners until his levels are where they should be and when that happens they should let him go home. This may take 2-4 days so we are expecting him to be home maybe Monday!! :D. YAY!!
We do not expect there to be any new developments besides these for the next several days so I will give you all a rest from the updates unless something unforeseen happens that needs prayer.

We want to thank everyone for the prayers, calls, visits, cards, food, acts of kindness, and love that has been shown to us through this ordeal. We praise our living God and His Son our Lord Jesus Christ for mobilizing his army of saints on behalf of his children. May He get the glory He deserves.

We love you! Larry is still in the same room and can be reached at 313-916-2600, room P512.
God Bless you and keep you safe and blessed forevermore.

They decided that he did not need the blood thinner because there was not another a-fib episode. So they already attached a portable pneumostat (?) for the chest tube, will be taking another chest xray, then he will get his discharge info and off we go!(depending on the results of the chest xray)

What a surprise from the Lord!

I am at the hospital right now just waiting for all this to unfold.
If it changes I will let you know, but we are hopeful right now. :)
Please keep praying for a full recovery, the lung hole to heal, no infection, etc. The Lord has been totally gracious to us may his name be praised forever. May God bless you all!!

Our prayers have worked! Right there is where you need to be Larry:) I hope you continue to recover and you are feeling back to your old self as quickly as possible. Tayla looks much happier too!

Thank God! Now Larry can heal even faster with Tayla's love. Take care of yourself Jane. Often the caretaker gets tended to last, so take a few moments here and there to catch your breath. With continued prayers for you all, Linda
