Penny and I took the test at Ann Arbor Dog Training  Club last evening.  I have to give big credit to the patience and encouragement of the evaluators (both for the dog and the handler!) .  Penny did do very well with walking through the crowd, greeting people, both with and with out a dog and the separation--I think she made a good friend during that oneAttached File  002edited.jpg   86.21KB   0 downloads.  The hardest part for her was the grooming part.  She still has some big trust issues.

We have a long ways to go, but I am proud of the progress that she has made.

It was so nice to finally meet Sherri, too!

Ditto!  I'm so very proud of both of you.  Remember:  It's 1/10 dog and 9/10 handler.  You have the patience and the love to make this work.  You are exactly what Penny needed.  I'm so proud of you.

Heather, it was great to meet you and Zoey/Penny, too!  She really is a pretty girl, and I'm so happy the two of you found each other and she is part of your pack now.  She is blossoming under your love and care.

I was so pleased that she passed the CGC test!  I know that one exercise was a bit scary for her, but you're right about the evaluators at the club being very patient and encouraging, and you two had some good people wanting to see you succeed!  That grooming exercise is challenging for many dogs.  It's more than just allowing someone to pet them; they must allow a stranger to pick up their feet, touch their ears, etc.

For those who may be wondering and thinking about taking the test in the future, there are ten different exercises.  If you make it through nine of the ten, you may, at the evaluator's discretion, repeat the one exercise you had difficulty with, and if you pass it on the second try, then you've passed the test!

Nice job, Heather and Zoey!  :)
