Hello!!! Sorry to say Arda has no internet or phone until the end of May or early June. I thought this site was closed for awhile so I haven't checked it until today. If you need to get a hold of Arda please send me a message on here or my facebook page.

Thanks,

Jill Clark

Hi Jill,  Yes the site was down for a bit.  There is a programming language, PHP, which the software we use to create this site/board relies on, had a new version put out.  The place that hosts our site upgraded to use this newer version of PHP however the actual board software we use isn't made to use this newer version  and so it broke the site.  Once I realized it I notified the website host we use and they notified me of all this and adjusted our site to not use this newer version of PHP so our board software would operate normally.

Basically our board/site software needs to be updated, however last time we talked about this with Arda, she didn't like the sound of it since the upgrade would mean the site would change how it looked and worked.

Now, mainly everyone uses Facebook to contact SCD/Arda so it is not much of an issue.

That is terrible about her Internet, I know she is at the mercy of not many choices of Internet providers out there where she lives.

Anyway, hope you and Arda are doing good.  Let us know if you need anything.

Hi Ken, good to "see" you again.  Yup we are good.  I've always worked from home so I was well prepared for this, Sarah continued at the hospital for a while until she too was laid off but expects to be called back soon.  Family and fur babies are good.  We lost our boy Stone to heart problems.  Miss him dearly  A new girl needed our help out of Detroit Animal Control so we jumped right back in.  We named her Jewel, we'll get some pix up here soon.  Hope all is well with anyone who still uses this board as well or instead of facebook!

Here I am!  I think.  Being locked up with 20 dogs for 5 months is not doing much for my attitude but I think I'm alive.  Great big thanks to Joaquin to get me out and about on the internet.  Big thanks to Jill for getting dog food, biscuits, pies and other necessaries in here and giving me up dates on all of you.  Thanks to Celeste for checking in on me.  Now this has been an experience I do not want to relive.  Did get a lot of yard work done.  Hope all of you are in good health.  Be careful and stay safe.  Love ya all and those fury kids of mine.

Ya know: I really thought it was THE END.  This has sure been a long haul.  Once a week I went to town for mail.  Everyone is behind plastic sheets or hiding in the back.  I got to see the vet once a month.  Jill once a week.  Celeste 4 times a week.  And 20 Dobes all day and all night.  We did get a lot done in the yard that we didn't get done last year when the kids ate the mower and I was without for 5 weeks.  I'm still staying in and safe and plan to stay in till this mess fades away or we get a vaccine.  I sure don't want to end up in the hospital again.  Not scared of dying as much as I'm afraid of everyone seeing all the unfinished projects that I'm trying to finish.  Just not ready yet.  Keep safe!

Everytime I think it can't get any worse, somebody drops some more duedue in my lap.  Today it's my electricity provider.  They want to come in and cut down some 28 trees I planted over the years to keep them clear from my electricical wires.  Other option is under ground wires that I have to pay for at $5500 to $6000.  I love these trees.  My Cottonwoods are enormous.  Pines and Spruces are as tall as my house.  I'm a whole bunch upset.  He says it will make my property worth more.  I don't see it that way.  War is on.

What if you paid a different company to trim them so they weren't an issue for the wires?  What leg would the power company have to stand on then?  They wouldn't be a problem anymore so it would seem they couldn't say spit!

Arda:  You can file a complaint or inquiry with the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC).  You can also inquire about state assistance with your utility bills .

The phone number is 1-800-292-9555. The email address is MPSC_Commissioners@Mich.Gov.

Let me know if you want to pm on this issue.

Oh wow!  Here's what I have found out so far.........in 2014 there was a bad storm in Lansing and a lot of trees fell on the power lines.  Took 21 days to restore all the power.  So as everyone is fighting about it..they decide the electric company was not doing all the trimming they were surpose to do.  So they drew up new guidelines that all branches and trees within 15 ft of a wire were to be cut out.  Needless to say, I didn't have any wires on the northside of the property until 1996 when my Ex built a building for my carousel and then they ran a line from the road to the building.  So like a dumby with a new toy..........I started planting everything from soup to nuts and to my amazement, they grew..  Some are close to 100 '.  Some are just what he called scrub trees which are to me a beautiful great big tree.  You know Cottonwoods as big as a building.  Home to squirrels and birds and anything that lives and out runs the Dobes.  A lot of the trees were gifts from friends I have met over the years.  I just don't want to loose them.  I'm just hurt and fighting mad.  What do I have to do.  Why can't they put the wires underground?  My electric bill runs $300 a month year round.  I live alone with a pack of dogs and a horse.  Why don't they suck my heart out instead and leave these trees alone.

Mr Newbie;  I'd love to pm you.  And that's a different problem.  I threw in the towel with my last internet provider April 10, 2020, as I only had internet part time.  They wanted $125 to have the problem fixed but I had to agree to another contract that I had just finished.  I just felt like I was being financially abused again.  I knew MS was going to be available and desided to wait for them.  In August I finally got internet.  Then I was blocked from my account because I could not remember my pass word and after trying the 4 or 5 that I had used......they blocked me.  So here I am in the only site that will have me.  My Second Chance Dobes.  Who knew that saving Dobermanns from euthanasia and patching them up would end up to be such a headache.  I'm out of options.  I spent yesterday measuring to see how I could eliminate one of the transformers to save $40 off the electric bill every month.  I fear that underground wires are the only recourse.  Get this.....at the cost of somewhere around $6,000 or more.  Even though I could rent a "ditch witch" for a few hundred and run the ditch myself.  Where do these companies think we retirees get our money?  Out of the mattress.?  Just a little sick of the system.
