Hailey has been declining rapidly in the past few weeks. She was diagnosed with DCM approximately 12 months ago and has been on medication for about 9 months. However, within the past few weeks she has developed congestive heart failure, a by-product of DCM, and think she may have had a stroke, as well. She has been dragging a back foot at times, stumbling, and she is having difficulty swallowing to where I have to help her eat. I have been making her a raw diet because she totally stopped eating dog foot at that time. She paces for hours at a time and appears confused and is up a good part of the night doing the same. We are now forced to make a difficult decision, one I was hoping we wouldn't have to. I was wishing the DCM would make that choice for us. She never looks happy any more :-(

My heart goes out to you and your family. It is never easy making the decision to let them go and take them out of their pain.

Helping Hailey is the best you can do for her now, you know when her body can't take anymore and help her through this difficult time.

May she go peacefully and rest her head on you for comfort and know you are there with her forever.

They are never here long enough and we'd love to hold on to them forever but we just can't. I hope this will help you a little on what you do.

Oh no Sharon...I was just wondering about her the other day but didn't want to bother you to see how she was doing. It is so darn tough to say good bye to a fur kid that you love so much. They are never here long enough. Just hold her and tell her you love her, she knows...Love you Hailey...hugs and kisses from Jackie.
