Thata boy Maverick!!! :)
The embedded collars in his neck when we got him and he goes back and extends the gentle paw to the human race. One heck of a dog.

What a handsome boy! I'm so happy he found his new family. I know he'll bring much joy and happiness to the Miller household. :)

Maverick AKA South Bend Max, is on his way back to SCD. The Miller's son was having a severe allergic reaction to Maverick's saliva. We know he would have been loved and we understand that our non-fur children also have to be kept safe. We Thank You for trying to give him a good home, and pray that your son get's to feeling better.

Aww...That's too bad! Better luck next time, Maverick! You'll get yours soon!

Just a thought, but there are allergy meds that people take due to allergic
reactions to animals. Have they considered trying that?

That's pretty sad. :)

I know they must be feeling bad both for having to return Maverick and for their son getting sick. Hope their son and they feel better soon. I will look for SB the next time I am out there if he is still there. He is a wonderful animal!

Cookie,
I think it would depend on how severe of a reaction the little boy is having. I grew up on allergy shots, which sucked, were painful, and did little to alleviate symptoms. Certain dogs I have a reaction to their saliva, and it's horrible. It's ITCHY, itchy, itchy.
But then, it's hit and miss. IF they wanted, they could always try another dobe, because each dog's saliva is different, and they may find one that their son won't have a reaction to. I'm allergic to DOGS, PERIOD, yet I have reactions to some, and not to others. Same with cats. But I wish them the best of luck finding a pet that will be compatible!
