Well.........it doesn't hurt so bad when you are falling into the snow.  But the getting up is a killer.  I usually take FuzzE, Omi, and Muffin with me out to the pen.  They all follow close but Chaos is the one that comes along side to let me lean on him to get back up.  But we sure don't want his royal highness to overwork out there.  We are surviving.  And this winter I don't have to use the ovens to heat the kitchen.  I put a new furnace in this summer.  And I haven't had to drag dog food up the driveway in a sled.  We're doing great out here.

Good Lord !!! I can see you in my minds eye using a sled in just that way. Your right about the snow being softer, and getting up really is the hard part. I limped around all night at work hoping it would warm up the achy parts but it was just too cold. When the temps drop my hips and shoulders wake up and yell at me and I don't have to see the weather forecast to know it's gonna get real cold, or if rain is on the way. Ghost would get creaky right along with me..lol I miss my old girl. I still catch myself looking for Nova when I first wake up in the morning to let her out to pee. She always had to go right away. Nova would get under the covers in bed head first and she would stay under there all night. I used to wonder how she could breathe under all the blankets...her nose would be so darn cold.!

COLD!  And I mean COLD!  They were all waiting at the door to get back in this morning.  Had to clean up after Kari and Katie and the crew was not letting me forget that they were out in the cold.  Kari, the little red pup, is coming along faster than the black one.  It's just going to take a little time.  What a shame.  They are as cute as ever but they have missed out on so much of their lives.

Sounds like a lot of snow. I have been in the hospital since last Friday so time has stopped for me. (Ischemic colitis) Maybe a bowel resection down the road. It just sucks to get old. I get cut loose today and I can't wait to be home to see my libby girl. It's amazing how much you miss them. Be careful in the snow and ice

Awww...Libby Tea, I"m sorry to hear you've been ill. I know in the hospital time does really does stand still. It's like being in limbo...lolol I'm sure your baby missed you too. I know if I was gone too long my girls would greet me, then snub me until they were over their little snit.

Arda I feel so bad for those little girls. I wish I could take them along with Miss Patty,  but like you said the 2 sisters should not be adopted together. Kari the red girl tugged at my heartstrings the way she wanted to be petted but slid away out of reach, and then got close, but not close enough to touch. I have a special soft spot for the red kids...and those ears...! They are so floppy and fun to mess with. Nova crossed me to the natural eared side....I love a cropped ear, but my old red girl somehow looked like she had a long hair-do with those big long ears. Not to mention that she would sit real still and let me hold those ears up so she looked like a giant bat....she probably thought I was crazy or something, but she loved all the attention. Dang those girls were my best friends. We had so much fun...even when they were bad , they were good....lolol

Every day I see a tiny bit of improvement in them.  Not enough for a big party but enough to encourage me to keep talking and touching them.  They will make it but it will just take time.  At this time I don't even think the old bat gave us the right age on them.  She said they were born on Dec 18th, 2013.  Katie was in heat when we spayed her.  That makes her about 9 or 10 months.  I know............they can come in early or late but they are so small.  Snow and Mickey are 15 months old and they sure look much more matured than Katie and Kari at 13 months.  But who am I.  I just think they look about 9 to 10 months old at best.  I can pray.  The younger they are the easier the task at hand.  To make dogs out of them.

On another note, Patty's hair is coming in real well.  Boy she is heck on four wheels.  A real doll.  Just wants to make me happy.  You are going to love her to death.

I Think about lil Patty all the time, and I got her 2 new bed pillows for her crate, some new soft blankies, a couple more toys...lol People at work ask about her too...lolol Harold the cat is bored out of his mind with no one to play chase with him. He runs through the house and hides then jumps out to swat anyone that comes near him. He also started answering the door when someone comes over...running and sitting just like the girls did. Nova loved running after him. Harold could walk by and Nova would ignore him, then he would run and Nova would jump up and the race was on...lolol The kids get spooked because Harold sometimes acts like he's still being chased...and maybe he is...Nate, who is almost 3 , gets mad because he says Nova is RIGHT THERE..and points to thin air. He gets irked because no one else sees her. Paco the Pitt will sit down and wag his tail and stare at nothing...he does that here and in my Dad's old bedroom at our house. Paco and my Dad were best buddies from when he was a pup sick with parvo. That weird stuff runs in my family. It scares my daughter and my logical brother is always trying to find scientific explanations for it. I just live with it and figure it's a gift. Patty is soo loved already, and adored. The kids have been calling her Keiko..{kay-ko} Japanese for "adored/blessed one. And she certainly is blessed being found and rescued by you. They really put alot of time and thought into the name. I was touched and near tears when they came and told me all about it. This little girl is going to be smothered in love and warm fuzzies when she comes home.

Katie and Kari DO look very young..I believe you are right in their ages...they are so skittish and unsure of things it breaks my heart. Shame on the old biddy who had them.
