Love to hear the stories about other owners and their adventures and to know there are no new stories in the world! One evening I had a stupid attack and held out a can lid for Brandy to lick off (I know, what was I thinking??!!! :D ). Of course her tongue started to bleed, and of course as soon as it would quit she did the doberman lick lick thing. I ended up sitting upright in a chair with her mouth stuffed with guaze holding her mouth shut for two hours -- this was very late at night so I kept falling asleep, she kept trying to escape, fun was had by all. Fortunately was the top, not the underside of her tongue. The bottom side of the tongue bleeds a lot more!

I'm glad to hear Yoshi is recovering nicely. They are so sneaky sometimes. I'm sorry you & Yoshi had to go through that though. How stressful. I hate how helpless you feel when they are sick or hurt. Isn't it amazing how Arda can just calm you down? She has had to do it to me more than once. ;) Congratulations on finishing your first obedience class and good luck in the next. Keep working on the socialization. Bailey is also scared of people on bikes, motorcycles, & roller blades. We spent all of last summer walking on a bike/walking trail and she got a lot better. She still slows down and stares at them and tries to turn around to see them once they pass, but she used to cower behind me and whine. Class will also help Yoshi gain more confidence. I would love to see some more pictures of Yoshi & Mario. :pinch:

BTW, we mailed your calendar & shirt today. :D

During the warm weather he loves coming with me on bike rides. That's the funny part about it. He respects me on the bike when we're going, but as soon as I get off the bike he is very upset with the bike. Silly dog.

We're looking at in home trainers right now. I feel we've brought him a long ways, but I just need some direction with some of his bad habits. I'm also thinking of getting a treadmill for him for winter exercise. Has anyone else had any experience doing something like that? Good idea, bad idea?

Whoo hoo for shirts and calendars! I'll have to snap some more shots of them. Last night we had Yoshi and Daisy (The cat he doesn't get along with) together watching a movie. And they did pretty good till Yoshi got curious and wanted to say hello. He is awfully intimidating for a little kitty.

You know my pain! I didn't want him to choke or swallow the gauze so I held it in his mouth for the entirety of the time. I wonder if holding his mouth shut would have been a better idea. Well I hope I never find out.

Yoshi Update!

This summer Yoshi has been enjoying the lake, he likes frolicking in the water but hasn't gotten the hang of swimming yet. I got him a life vest so I can take him on my little fishing boat. The really big news for us is that today we took him to a local doggy daycare and he got a temperment test to see how he'd do with a group of 25-30 dogs and he passed! We ended up leaving him the whole day to play with his new buds! I can't believe where this dog came from to being able to play with all of these other dogs. He got a long so well with everyone they can't wait to have him back. We still have our issues with him and everyday is usually a power struggle but we're getting there. He's made so much progress and I just wanted to say thanks to everyone here for the bit of encouragement you may have not known you've been providing us these past couple of years. A lot with your stories of triumphs and failures with your own dogs. Thanks so much!

Thank you for the update on Yoshi! I was just thinking about him the other day, and was wondering how he was doing. I'll bet he has a lot of fun at doggie daycare. And the best part is he comes home TIRED!

Sure sounds like Yoshi is having a great summer, not only having fun in the water, but with daycare. Thanks for the update.

It warms my heart to hear how Yoshi is thriving with your family. You just can't ask for an adoption to turn out better than this. It comes through in your posts and your photos how much Yoshi is loved and cared for. He even gets a life jacket when he's on the boat! I wish all dog owners would do that. It's great to hear that he passed the temperament test at daycare and can now go and play with a whole bunch of new friends. I know there are always little bumps along the road, but it sounds like you always figure out how to deal with them in a productive way and end up making great progress as time goes on. Thank you for loving him.

Thanks for the update. It's great to hear that Yoshi is making such big strides. I still remember the timid, starved boy that Arda brought in. It is so nice to know he is riding on the boat and attending doggie day care. Thank you for sticking with him and turning him into the beautiful, social boy he is now.

It matters to the one you save.
