I didn't think I would be going since I had planned on working this morning, but as luck would have it, my computer was down, so while my IT expert (my husband) worked on fixing everything, I drove out there. I got there just a few minutes after 11 a.m., so missed just a bit.

I'm sure some of you from the board were there, but since I've never met most of you in person, I wouldn't have recognized you. In case any of you remember a woman in a green winter coat looking like she was freezing, that was me!

I don't know what I was expecting, but this was really special. Even though all I had was an intersection to look for, there was no missing it as there appeared to be about a hundred cars parked along the road. My best guesstimate is there were a couple hundred people attending, and several dozen dogs. Unfortunately, not a single Doberman that I saw. I sure wish I had brought one of mine.

There were several different speakers honoring military dogs, police K-9s, SAR dogs, basically all working dogs and the sacrifices they make, then the dedication of the headstone for Sergeant Sparks. The whole thing was very solemn and moving. I am so glad I went!

Arda, your wreath was in a place of honor right near the front of the monument. I took pictures, but I haven't had a chance to look them over and see how they came out. My photography skills are pretty bad. Hopefully, some of the other board members who were there got some good photos and will post them.

Here is the web site address for the Michigan War Dog Memorial: mwdm.org (Sorry, I can't get it to post as a link.)

I will have to wait until someone that knows what they are doing is here to help me. I did get about 30 pictures to share I wil pick out the best of them and post them when we figure out what we are doing.
The site keeps telling me the file is to big to post so I have to figure something else out. So Sorry I don't know what I am doing.

I got a few halfway decent pictures. I watched Joaquin's tutorial on how to post a picture. Looked simple, but when you're trying to post a picture in an existing thread instead of starting a new topic, I don't see the thingy you click for "Attachments." Anybody know where it is?

OMG there's a lot of dogs buried there. Those pictures are great. Maybe more of us can make it next year. Very nice memorial to both pets and service dogs.

Wow. I'm teary now...I would have embarassed myself had I been there in person. Arda, there are hundreds more stones that you cannot see from the pics. The wreath is beautiful....notice the little doberdog on top of it? How cool. I'm sure this will be in our hometown paper next week, so I will watch for it and post it for you all:) So nice that so many people showed up for this special event.

Thank you so much for posting the pics! Wish I could have been there.
Arda the wreath is marvelous! A real eye catcher.

Well I have to tell you I am computer STUPID sorry I can't add any more to the link. I hope what is there will be enough for you to see what was going on.
I did my best so enjoy what is posted. As far as the video the speakers took 45 min. so it would be way to long and I would never figure that out LOL.
Glad I was able to be there and share what pictures I could.

I figured out that when replying to an existing topic, you have to click on "More Reply Options" to get to where you can attach something. So here goes, my very first attempt. These are more or less duplicates of some already posted by Yahoosmom.

Arda's wreath:

The new headstone for Sergeant Sparks:

I tried to get some photos of the crowd, to give an idea of how many people were there. I couldn't get the whole crowd at once, so what you see in each photo are only portions. These are a little dark, I apologize for that. I don't really know how to use all the adjustments on my husband's camera.
