Hi all,

Today we got the very sad news that our girl has Wobblers.....My heart shattered in a million pieces, as the vet talked and the tears fell, my girl came over and licked them off my face as if to say "don't worry mom" I had suspected it but did not want to take her in to get the news, today was a hard day for her, so I took her in. The vet started her on steriods and now we wait to see if it helps. I was told this is not the worst she has seen, and she is not in any pain, but there is nothing that can be done...I am sooo sorry Arda I took her and promised to keep her safe, If I could fix her I swear I would. I remember the day we came to you, we were so overwhelmed by all the choices, but she made it easy, because she picked us! You have my promise, that I will do all I can for my angel and I will keep you posted.

Please! start her on Glyco Flex as soon as you can get it. It DOES help. Hulk has been with us here for well over a year and he is better today than he was when we got him. This stuff really works on dogs and on people.

Awwww. I hate wobblers. I lost my Tango to wobblers and that was my first dobe years ago. He did fine for years after diagnosis though, so don't give up hope. Do some research on the net and learn as much as you can....which I'm sure you're doing. I hope the glycoflex helps  Keep any extra weight off her as well.

Kelly, I am so sorry to hear this news, but please remember they can live years with Wobblers. PLEASE don't feel guilty, there was nothing you could have done to prevent this. Riley is so lucky to have a mom who loves her so much. We're sending big but gentle hugs to Riley.

Arda uses Glyco Flex III, we use it for Buddy too.The cheapest place we have found for the Glyco is Entirely pets on Amazon. You can order a set of three bottles and get a discount and a free tub of joint treats.

Later, if she gets worse, you might want to get a ruff wear harness to be able to help her walk and balance. It has a handle on the dog's back.

It matters to the one you save.

So sorry about Riley. Don't feel guilty thinking you let Riley down....there is nothing you can do to prevent Wobbler's, it is a genetic problem. Dogs can live full, rich, lives with Wobbler's. We had a Dobe years ago, Rex, that was diagnosed with Wobbler's when he was bout 6 years old. He never progressed beyond a milder case of it. He lived to be about 11 years old, we ended up losing him to bone cancer.

Ken; the last batch we got was Glyco-Flex II. Sarah usually orders it for all of us as we get a little better price that way. I have used this for years and I find it does help and several vets I have used over the years have been sold on it from the way our dogs work out. I have tried other joint supplements but they don't seem to be as good. Herc and Hulk are both on it and they seem to be doing very good. If only the cancer in Herc could be helped, but it can't.

I want to thank all of you for your kind words and support. I think I feel so guilty because we seen her declining and just chalked it up to arthritis, so if I had taken her earlier, she may not have had such a hard time for so long.... I ordered the glycoflex, I want to see if the stores around me have a small bottle to hold her over until it comes in. I want to give her all we can to help her feel better. I will keep all of you posted. Thanks again for all the support and advice.

Kelly -

My stepson has a Shepherd that, due to bad breeding, had hip dysplasia by the time she was two years old. Although not the same as Wobblers, Glyco-Flex has made all the difference in the world. She's now around 12 years old, and doing well. Supplements DO make a difference. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Riley.

Kelly, I am sorry to hear your news about Riley. I hate Wobblers. I lost my first SCD rescue, Up-C-Dazy to that dreaded disease. She never acted like she was in pain, and right up to the end always had a smile on her face. I sure hope the Glyco Flex helps.

Hi Kelly,

My Dakota had wobblers also, we treated her with steroids when I faired up and she did great. I also use glyco flex 3 with my crew. I have found it here http://www.entirelyp...coflexiii1.html. Sad to say its cheaper for me to get it here than with my discount at the clinic I work at.

I just wanted to say, don't beat yourself up it is so easy
for us to feel guilty because we love them so very much
I still feel guilty over my boy Hunter, I just did not know
until it was almost too late, not the same illness, but I
too felt I should have seen. Then he had to go through
so much, I often wonder did I do right by trying to give
him only a little while longer. I am not saying that is
the case for you I am only saying I too felt guilt and
still do.

We are all here for you we are the SCD family

I am so sorry for the news on Riley. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Bonnie has been on Glyco-flex 111 since she was 6 months old. when she was diagnoisd with early onset arthritis. I get it from Entirely Pets. and it comes in the mail real quick when I order it.

I'm sorry to read about your Riley.
I know very little about Wobblers, however my Karma has a neurological issue (cerebellar hypoplasia) that makes her walk unsteady, in kind of a "hoppy" way. She falls alot. Her quality of life is excellent. She takes glyco-flex. Someone here recommended the ruff wear harness. I highly recommend it. A picture of her in the harness is in the SCD calendar. It works great, kind of like carrying a furry suilcase.
Good wishes to Riley and you.
