Today Jeff and Nikki came to see some of our young guys. It was a hard choice, but in the end, Nelson won their hearts. ;) He showed off all his best manners and he seemed to know this was his chance. We know Jeff is on the board, and he has promised us pictures! :) We can't wait to see Nelson in his new home. He is such a handsome boy! Thank you for honoring the memory of your Brutus by providing a home for another rescue dobe. Congratulations on the newest member of the family!

Congratulations to Jeff Nikki and Nelson. :)

Nelson is home and doing well. He likes going for a ride, so the 4 hour drive was no problem. He seems to like his name so we just kept it.

Nelson has perfect manners in the house and is a typical velcro dob who prefers to have his head attached to us in some way. He knows and listens to all of his basic commands and has already figured out the chair and doggy bed that belong to him.

Nelson is very eager to please! Arda seemed a little worried about this wild man, but he just wants someone to love. Just 24 hours in and he is a entirely different (calm) animal. He can be a bit frisky outside around strangers and other dogs, but still listens very well and obedience training will soon follow.

We already have a bunch of pictures and will post once nikki downloads them.

We can't ask for a better doggy!

Jeff

Thank you Jeff and Nikki for giving this big lug a chance ;) . Like I said, kennel life is very stressful for them and sometimes when you take them away from all those other barking fools, they become a different, more relaxed dog. Sounds like this is the case with Nelson  . You both have opened your hearts and home to an unwanted dobe and you left us with a very generous donation....thank you :)

I'm glad to hear he is behaving himself. He really is a sweet boy, he just needs a strong leader. Thank you for giving him this great home. He's a lucky boy. Also, thanks for the pictures. He sure looks like he has made himself at home. :)

Nelson does great in the house with all of his manners and does not make a mess. We gave him his first trial run of staying home uncrated (checking on him regularly, of course) and he was perfect. However, on a leash, Nelson is one crazy fool. Hopefully we can train him to walk better with us. He loves to chase anything that moves, so he keeps us on our toes. Jeff thinks he may be able to climb a tree if you actually let him chase a squirrel, lol.

You two are strong enough to get him back out if the tree. Sounds like its going to work out. He is a strong guy and a little work and he should make you proud. Thanks for giving him a chance.
