Nick came out today to meet Santana. Nick has lived with rescue Dobes before, and wanted to have one again. He applied for Santana because his picture just seemed to speak to him. Santana is a sweet little guy who has come so far since he's been with Arda.

Santana is very smart. Here's a quick story about him. When a dog first comes in, Arda will put them out in a pen and then let the other dogs out. This lets her see how he reacts and lets everyone safely get to know each other. Well, once Santana was allowed to run free with the group, he would still go to the pen he used to go in and wait for Arda. All the other dogs just run into the kennel, but he would go to the pen and wait for her to call to him. Such a little sweetheart.

Santana has waited since last summer for the right home to chose him. We are so happy for Santana and Nick! We hope you have years of happiness together. Thank you for choosing to rescue! :flower:

Rumors were he is changing his name to Ernie.  After Ernest Hemingway.  He had no idea we have an Ernie, named after Ernest Hemingway.  Our Ernie is a 9 year old stray that loves me to death.  His Ernie will not be a stray again.  It looked like a match made in heaven.  Nick walked him out to the cemetery and sat on a bench and talked to him.  He seemed to respond very well to Nick.  This made my day and maybe when you see the next batch of rejects I am bringing in you'll all have a little mercy on me.  These next kids need what we do badly.

I miss you Santi !!  Hugs and Kisses

Hello all. Nick and Santana here, well actually the dobe formerly known as Santana. Meet Indy, everyone. Santana was a lovely name, but in the spirit of New Beginnings I have always changed the name when I've adopted. I chose Indy because we are both from Indiana. This way no matter where we are living, as long as we're together, that will be our home.

Arda, you are doing a beautiful thing and it is I who should thank you for making it possible to take Indy home.

Quick update: I got him home yesterday. He took to the drive just fine. I sat in the backseat of the truck while my girlfriend drove with Indy on my lap for most of it. We made a quick stop at PetCo for a bath and then we came home. I showed Indy his new bed in the living room, his new bed in my bedroom (though I plan on sleeping on my bed with him I still wanted him to have his own in the room) , his crate and all his toys. We took a nap on the bed for about an hour (it was a big day for both of us) and then he took several more naps on the couch in the living room while I watched TV.

We took two very long walks today, played outside for a bit, met my neighbor and my other neighbors dog, and he is currently napping on my bed while I type this.

Arda,

(and all of the many helpers and supporters), you are doing such a beautiful thing it is I who should thank you for this chance. You are correct he will not be a stray again. I loved him before I even met him, and I love him even more now that he's home.

Oh, thank you Nick.  Thank you so much.  Your girlfriend told me it was going to be Ernie.  I love my Ernie.  But I know you will love Indy as much as I did.  I sure hope he is behaving for you.  Keep us updated.  All of us love to see those pictures you adopters send to your folks.  We are out here too.  Loving to know how these kids are doing.  Thanks again Nick.

04 A.A.D (After Adopting Dobe)

Things are going well here in Royal Oak. The blizzard we are getting not withstanding. I'm working from home today and just wanted to check-in. I'm happy to report that office morale is at an all-time high, but productivity is dwindling.

Now don't ruin that dog.  He looks so comfy.  He must have thought he was at Guantanamo here.

Not in the slightest, Arda. You have to spread your love across numerous Dobes, I only have him. It's much, much easier for me.

Ha congrats and welcome to the board!!  He looks right at home.  I work from home too and that is usually how they "assist" me too by making sure the couch doesn't float away!
