Dear Porters and Sherri,
I want you to know what a wonderful dog I have in Marley[now
Boomer-named after my grandson's puppy backpack that looks just like him].
He is gentle, quiet, is semi-obedience trained, housebroken, good with cats,
good with kids-and a great running partner. I was home with pneumonia for
the week after I got him so we had a wonderful opportunity to bond.
Boomer is an excellent listener and I never have to raise my voice. We
are working on improving our communication [the successful ingredient in any
relationship]. He already knows NO [only need that when he decides to chase
a squirrel or one of the cats], leave it, with me, come, lie down and uh uh.
He gets very excited when he sees something [squirrel or another dog] with
which he wants closer contact and SPRINGS straight up three feet off the
ground. We will be going to obedience school beginning next week, so that I
can learn how to help him to be a good/better citizen.
I am so fortunate that Boomer is mine! Thank you for the picture and
thank you for rescuing him. As soon as I learn how to download the pictures
from my camera, I will send you one that shows how he looks now that he's
been bathed and has had a haircut. You can see his beautiful eyes and he
has No snarls-no more bob Marley! Nancy

:) Nancy,
The name Boomer fits him so perfectly! I love it. I cannot wait to see him with his new coiff! I bet the hair they cut off weighed more than the dog himself. He must feel 100% better, especially now that he has a mom of his very own :D Thank you for opening your home to this special guy!

I can't begin to tell you all how much I am enjoying being Boomer's
lifetime caretaker. My vet and his trainer [thought that we could both use
some tutoring] say he is an unbelievable dog. Thanks to all of you, I have
an amazing friend! Each morning we run about 3.5 miles and in the evenings
we walk a similar distance or go over to the home of a friend with a fenced
yard and he romps.
I know that this isn't a great photo but I wanted to send you one to
see how his looks are changing. Now that I have learned to download from
the camera, I need to learn to photo edit. I promise to send more pictures
as I improve my editing skills. I have cut his hair again since this photo
and seeing his eyes makes all the difference!
Do any of you have any idea of his early history? What high kill
shelter did he come from before he went to K-9 Strays? Although he has
become more secure since first coming home with me, has very unusual
fears.....man hole covers, cameras, mostly men but also some women who move
quickly, a fire in the fireplace..... It must be my training as a
therapist that makes me want to understand his early life!
Thanks again to all of you....I'll keep you in the loop with what's
new with Boomer. Nancy

I'm so happy you posted a picture! I was just wondering the other day how you two were doing. So happy it's working out for both of you. :whistling:

What in the world are you doing coming in the back door?  I don't know if I have ever seen you come in the back door.  I am usually with you.  How did you get to the store without me?  How did you get out of the house unnoticed?  What is going on here?????  Are we off our schedule?????    AAAAAAAAAaaaeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!??????

I protest.

  Whadja bring me?

From your post, you sound like true soulmates :whistling: What a lucky boy he is to have such a caring, insightful Mom. He's so clean and fluffy in the picture. Thank you so much for the update. I know your life together will be full of love - and many adventures on the horizon.

:stuart: Dear Nancy,
Thank you so much for the update on Boomer! It really makes our days. I believe Boomer came out of Muskegon, which is a shelter no dog wants to be in. He was spared from euthanasia, which there in Muskegon is a gas barrel. Boomer's story is truly a happy ending thanks to you Nancy :whistling: Help spread the word about rescue/shelter dogs by sharing Boomer's story with others.
