Does the Pet Supply Plus store there have aHalloween dressup contest for pets?  The one up here by me does and the animals are just hilarious.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It's on Sunday, October 23, from 4-6. :D
The embedded collars in his neck when we got him and he goes back and extends the gentle paw to the human race. One heck of a dog.

:D This seems like a good plan.  From the first page of this thread, I got the impression that we were all invited to attend and help out.  Then on page 3 it takes a drastic turn and people are backing out right, left and centre.

I think we all just want to help, and we're all excited about seeing each other, and we're all proud of our dogs.  We didn't want to cause any problems.  :P

If there was some structure and certain dogs that would best represent SCD were chosen, it might avoid the excitement/disappointment that happened this time.

If I were closer, I would stop by with Tux, pick up some food, say "Hello!" and then head home.  I'm not that close, so Tux can stay home.  It's not fair for him to wait in the car for me while I'm there.  :D

I think we need another play-date.... That way we can ALL go.  :D

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Stef,
Anyone can go... Stop in say "Hi" take your pet shopping in the store but it is the dogs that are staying that must be in TOTAL CONTROL AT ALL TIMES.
You said it right in which dogs are there to represent SCD. It is NOT that we don't love ALL these furkids It just we know that some of them can handle being around crowds, people coming at them, etc. I mean, does everyone know for a fact that their dog can handle a small child screaming and pulling and JUMPING on their dog without the dog reacting? Does everyone know their dog can handle other dogs, cats, rabbits, whatever walking right past them without the dog reacting?

I had a very small child come out of nowhere and lauched himself around Suzzanes neck, and was picnching her ears before any of us knew what was happening. Any dog maybe o.k. with that in his/her home enviorment but what about after a few hrs in a strange place, with strangers coming at them?

Please everyone, this is not to be negative this is just reality and we know EVERYONE has the best intentions at heart :D
Go have fun. no-one is excluded just want to make sure we don't have any problems :D

As far as getting together with the furkids we can do that in a non-public way like getting everyone together at SCD or wherever.

Thanks,

Cathy

This is a great idea. We can even do it at a local dog park too, like Lyon Oaks by Wixom. Its's gotta be a good 10-15 acres of open, fenced land for the kids to play on with water bowls, toys, poop bags, and even a pavilion for us parents to chill out or snack or whatever. Let me know if anyone would be interested in a setting something up.
It's important the dogs behind the booth at this event reflect what Arda wishes for all her dobes. They have to be excellent reps for the breed. We are out there to educate the public and show them that these are not the viscious beasts that 70s movies are made of. They are gentle, alert, and tolerant. And most of all, well mannered. We want people to be impressed enough that they consider donating or exploring the option of adoption further. Please do come and visit, there's going to be all types of critters coming and going out that front door all day long and we know that the dogs selected to be there can keep themselves composed. I know I'd like to see some of our friends :D

I apologize to everyone for any disappointment that was felt. The last two times we did a meet and greet for PSP everyone WAS welcome to come. One lasted for three days so we had dogs scheduled, the other was in a park so there was a place to separate out the dogs and take them for a long walk if it was called for. This time it is only one day and everyone still wants to go but it's just not logistically possible to keep that many dogs out on the sidewalk with all the traffic, kids, dogs, cats, people going in and out of the store. I just didn't expect to have this many people who wanted to attend. I'm really sorry anyone got their feelings hurt. It's my fault for not saying something sooner. Again, I apologize.

Jane, I know this is probably already posted, but WHO is working the M&G with what dogs, if I may ask? There's a reason for my madness that I may or may not share after you respond.
Thanks, Jane, I appreciate it!

Here is what I have so far.

At noon we will have three dogs for sure.  Ella with her Princess, Frank with his Bronson, and Karen with her Chyna girl.  I'm not sure if Joni is bringing her doberteen or not.

About halfway through, Jen and Stef should be coming with Kizzy.  I'll be expecting to see Michelle pop in with Rusty to say hi and show Ted another breed success story.  Any other drop-ins for sure?  Stephanie?  Are you coming to say hi to all your old coworkers?  Does Ted know that you have adopted dobes?  :D

Anyone else?  If your dog/dogs are well behaved we can rotate and give the others a rest. :D

Jane

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Here is the post Jen. This is what I have so far. There is a later post that Steph made that said she would be coming around 1:00 to meet you and do some shopping. Hopefully we will see a hot dog. :D

Oh yes, Michelle says she isn't coming.

Jane

I agree, Rusty is the MOST photogenic dog I have ever seen!!

Michelle, sounds like a plan, sweetie!! I won't be going out to the M&G after all, I'm hoping if it's ok with Stef, to head over to the swamp on Sunday, instead of going over on Saturday.

We WILL meet one day, I'm hoping! Hopefully you'll be able to come out to SCD on the "tentatively" 29?

Jane, I work every other weekend. So, I am working on the 15th, and unfortunately 14 days later is the 29th, and my weekend again. Actually we do not work Sundays, so if the date was the 30th??????????

Dogs don't know about beginnings, and they don't speculate on matters that occurred before their time.
Dogs also don't know-or at least don't accept-the concept of death.
With no concept of beginnings or endings, dogs probably don't know that for people, having a dog as a life companion provides a streak of light between two eternities of darkness

Thank you Jane for arranging and managing our M&G today :P Ted from PSP was very accomodating as usual, our table looked fabulous, and the dogs worked their magic as always :D Newbie Bronson was a superstar and acted like he does this sort of thing all the time. Princess did most of the work though, and my girls just waited to petted. It didn't take them long to figure out that when people came out of the store, they almost always had food in their hands :D Overall, another successful day of educating the public about our passion....except it could have been 10 degrees warmer :D
