Mary
Dogs don't know about beginnings, and they don't speculate on matters that occurred before their time.
Dogs also don't know-or at least don't accept-the concept of death.
With no concept of beginnings or endings, dogs probably don't know that for people, having a dog as a life companion provides a streak of light between two eternities of darkness

A friend of mine will put peanut butter in his big blue jack for his dog and then place it in the freezer over night contained in a zip-loc bag. This causes the peanut butter to become hard and making it more of a challenge for his dobe. Carrots work well too. I find it fun thinking of foods to put in the big blue for Levi to work on.
Levi and I both think this is a great toy. It holds up well.

Is the big blue jack the same as the big blue jack with the rope through it? We could only find the big one with rope in our area. A sharp knife could fix that though if the jack is the same.

Yes, I believe it is the same toy. I have seen it with and without a rope. The rope would take all of 1 minutes for Levi to remove, and have spread over every inch of the house in pieces so small it would be hard to believe it started off as a rope. He loves pulling apart any thing with thread in it. At least now he doesn't eat it like he did as a young dobe.
Merry Christmas!
