This is in loving memory of my boy Hunter. He was a beautiful Red boy, so very gentle and so very loving.
He slept with me every night under the covers and had to be touching me at all times. He sat on my lap when
I was watching TV and he liked to be covered up then too. I got him when he was on 7 weeks old and carried him
around until I could not carry him anymore. He was a comic he made me laugh every day I should of named
him Mischief or Dennis for Dennis the Menace, he was so comical.
When he took a treat from you he would kind 0f wrap his lips around so his teeth never touched
you. He loved everything and everybody.
I lost him at 8 years old to bone cancer and pericardia effusion. It started with the effusion and I spent a fortune
pulling him through that and I would do it again, he was my child. Then he developed bone cancer and I was not
putting him through anything more and he was not going to suffer. I know he is in heaven and I can still feel him
with me. There is a special place for this loving gentle dog and I will never ever in my life forget him. I sleep with
his pillow, sometimes it is the only way I can get to sleep. People who do not understand what it is like to lose a pet
is really missing out in life, they give their all and they love you no matter what.

I have a White Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix and they were the best of friends and she misses him too, she
keeps looking for him.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change

the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Do you think the time is right?
May I say goodbye to pain filled days and endless lonely nights?
I've lived my life and done my best, an example tried to be.
So can I take that step beyond, and set my spirit free?
I didn't want to go at first, I fought with all my might.
But something seems to draw me now to a warm and living light.
I want to go, I really do; it's difficult to stay.
But I will try as best I can to live just one more day.
To give you time to care for me and share your love and fears.
I know you're sad and afraid, because I see your tears.

Nancy, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss of Hunter. It's clear from your story of him that he was a very lucky dog to have had a life with you. Losing them is the hardest part of sharing our lives with them. I'm glad you found this discussion forum; you will find many friends here who feel the same way about their dogs as you do. Have not been out here in so long.. did not want to see any of these posts-- I only sit here at my computer and say to you dobbie lover (dog lover) to another.. it is part of the package we have to endure to also let them love us how they do.. these are just words but it is the truth... you know..

somehow through the pain-- as we are strangers other than feelings behind these words on a forum board.. I am thinking of you.. heart heavy with awareness of your pain and journey.... cant give you anything that will really help. just know I am thinking of you and wishing you did not have to feel that sadness.... I then know you have the comfort in and out of it all to cherish the good times..

these dogs they possess magic and bring out the unique versions of each of us... I think they are the closest for me ..each of them as who they are to being angels.. I really do. look at what they bring out in us and how they enhance our lives.

I wanted to thank people for the replies I received from posting Hunter and also to reply to different ones with new posts who have lost their dogs. When I try to do that it won't let me it says error I am not allowed, I don't know what I am doing wrong. It just meant so much to get the replies to Hunter and I really enjoyed meeting Arda.

Nancy, that's a beautiful painting, period, but the fact that it looks like Hunter, well, you're very lucky to have found it. I hope you can get your technical difficulties worked out regarding the discussion board. I've been a member for about a year and a half, and I still have trouble occasionally. I often get error messages after I have signed in. I sign in, try to post something, and the board tells me I don't have permission, so I have to sign in again, etc. I've been told it might have something to do with my using AOL. I don't know. I have never been able to resolve it, but I just re-sign in and then I'm fine. It's annoying but I've gotten used to it.

Memories are Golden, so I have been told,
Well, that may be true;
I never wanted memories, I only wanted you
to love and to hold,
Nobody knows how much I loved you.

They say time heals all wounds,

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder,

I still feel you here with me,
that will always be true;
My own Bounty Hunter
Nobody knows how much you loved me,

A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried;
If love alone could have saved you,

To put my own selfish feelings aside,
and to do what I knew what was best for you,

I know that day you knew God was calling you,
Oh Lord I didn't want to loose you,
Before we left I could see the pain in your eyes,

I miss your head on my shoulder, you in my lap,
your legs around me like you were hugging me,
when you were just a little pup I carried you
around until I couldn't pick you up any longer.
Your gentle loving Velcro ways, your sigh of
complete content, your stub tail always going,
your goofy ways like almost standing on your
head with your butt in the air, you were a
comic you made me laugh everyday.
I miss the mornings when you would stare
at my eyes to see if I was awake yet, when
I did wake up your stub was going 80 miles
an hour and you would nibble my nose so
gentle, you always had to have your favorite
glove and pillow.

Everyone called you "The Goof"

I JUST MISS YOU SO MUCH MY SWEET BOY

You are in the hands of God never to be hurt
again. I am so very sorry for all the things you
went through, the break in the scars left on you,
the medical things to see if you could be helped.

It has been a year Hunter, but it still feels like
yesterday.

YOU ARE IN "HEAVEN" THAT'S ONLY PLACE YOU COULD BE.
