.The day was the 17th of November, 2009. The schedule says pick up a male and female Dobe in Eaton County, so off I go. Jill is here and will take care of the kids while I run. Be back as fast as possible. And off I go like so any times before. This was to be a day to remember for the rest of our lives.
Pull fee was $20. They go back to bring the dogs up and the female is passing blood all over the floor and some very large blood clots. I grab some towels off the counter to clean up the mess and the little clot moved. Oh crap......it's alive. A live puppy. Oh may God. Three live puppies. Put the male in a crate in the van. Female and three puppies on a blankie in the back. Call Jill with instructions on where the whelping pools are in the carousel building and how to set up the puppy room for a litter and the mommy. And drive like a fool home.
By the time I arrive, Jill is ready and waiting. And we now have 4 fat puppies and one little runt female. Put the male in a kennel and move mommy and puppies into the whelping room. Oh my God, 7 Dobermanns for $20. This was a real boost to our morale. The care was back breaking but I don't think any of us minded. We had two wading pools. Put the puppies in one pool and change the papers in the other one. Then put the puppies in the clean pool and clean the other pool. This went on all day and night to keep them clean and happy. The little female did not survive. The rest grew and grew. All of them could crawl out of the pools except this one big fat puppy. By the time we had them altered and the ers done I was starting to worry about the one puppy's inability to function like the others. Ella took the Blue female and called her Bonnie Blue. The other two were gone in a flash leaving Chaos behind with his human mommy, ME. He was carried and prayed over by everyone. And finally we had our miracle dog, CHAOS, The SCD Professional Greeter. Everyone coming in here was greeted by Chaos. And I might add, feel in love with him.
