What I know: Kilo is a black, cropped and docked male who has been neutered. The couple who adopted him were in their early 20's. They had previously purchased a female dobe puppy, and when she was less than a year old, they told me they were going to get another puppy to keep her company. I suggested they adopt an older dobe instead, and they found Kilo. This was about 4 years ago. Their vet said he was probably 4-5 yrs old. I think he may have been younger, more like 3 yrs. He lived with the young female dobe for a couple of years until the human couple broke up. Kilo went with his human mother and the female dobe stayed with her human father. Since then, Natalie has moved in with her grandmother to provide assistance. Her uncle also lived in the house. Grandma and Uncle were home all day with Kilo while Natalie was away at work. Uncle now has terminal cancer and is going to Ecuador for experimental treatment and will probably never return to the US. Grandma can't handle the dog, so he is currently being closed in the kitchen all day for 10-12 hours and Kilo is very unhappy and lonely with no humans to love him.
She will only let him go to a good home, so she asked me to help her find someone who will treat him exceptionally. He seems to be fine with other dogs, unless they are entering his territory. I had taken him on a couple of walks with my dogs years ago and no problems. He has limited exposure to kids, and Natalie prefers either no children, or only over age of 5 yrs. I told her not a problem as SCD guide is 10 yrs of age for children when placing a male dobe. She believes he will do better in a peaceful environment, no puppies or young adolescent dogs. He weighs between 90-100 pounds. She said he is starting to show gray around the muzzle. He is not on any medications and has no known health problems. She did say that sometimes "people can't stand it when he starts doing that spinning thing". This made me
Can anyone help me? I have never really done this before. I always end up keeping the dog someone wants to re-home, but that is not an option this time. She is supposed to email me a picture, but I don't have yet.
Thanks, Michelle
